"So I think 4 stars is me being generous, but I originally wrote a 3 star review and felt that was a bit harsh. The menu is a mish mash of Greek and pub grub. Our friends chicken souvlaki looked really good, my chickpea and...chorizo stew was fine, but the only extras were a tiny pot of coleslaw and it felt quite pricey for what it was. Hubbys sausages were undercooked and anaemic looking and the mash had been emptied out of a serving bowl in some weird attempt to make it look good. I’d been looking forward to baklava which I’d seen on the online menu, but as the Greek chef has now left had to make do with ice cream, which was fine. Staff were pleasant and service reasonable. This place needs to redo the menu and concentrate on getting the basics right."

Another of Ludlow's great pubs. Full of character, lots of local ales on tap, friendly staff and tasty grub. Landlord was happy to let us taste some ales before ordering.

This was a typical 'old English pub ' with beams, dark woodwork and stone floor. They has some good real ales on, food was good to with the added benefit of some gluten free cooked meals too. Staff were friendly and it was nice to sit...out in the beer garden at the back.

I went to ludlow last week to see the church St. laurence and had the pleasure of going to this beautiful historical pub. the host and the staff were very friendly and welcoming and I really enjoyed spending time in this beautiful pub. I'm glad to go back soon. highly recommended!

Had a fab meal in this lovely pub last week, called in with our little dog, got seated, service great, ordered chicken souvlaki with trimmings, absolutely so tasty and tender, was one of the better meals we had in Ludlow, if we lived here, would...be in every week, thanks for a great night

superb pub with a beautiful outdoor seating area, inside there is an open fire, very cozy and a little quirky interior, very friendly and attentive staff. eating is delicious, Greek inspired, so not the usual pub food that is great. the feta starter is to die, we had the classic souflaki and moussaka and both were delicious. we're coming back here.

turned up with no reservation and despite being very busy, the staff found us a table outside (which was great as it was sunny). They later returned to say we could eat inside if we wished. We all ate Sunday lunch, Beef, Turkey and Vegetarian...which were all nice and hot and very tasty with a good selection of vegetables. Very friendly and helpful staff.

I would have given it 3.5 stars, but this is not available..the foodx was very good in the main, but in the night we visited, they had run out of 3 of the most important cure options. the only other thing is to get out. there is hardly a soft device, so it doesn't have to get out where to go. it was a bit difficult to make a meaningful conversation. the beer was very good and eating was excellent and plentiful. in any case recommend.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
