Best Italian pizza in the county! Very friendly staff, nice garden and good food overall. Could have slightly better selection of draft beers.

I went to this place for my upcoming birthday. The place is great and the food is very tasty. One of my family members said that it was the best fish they ever had. The dessert was very tasty as well. I liked how their was a room in the garden dedicated to making pizza.

My partner and I moved to the village a year ago and eat/drink here usually once a week. The staff and management are excellent, and we love the Sicilian chefs pizzas. Excellent value and much nicer range than any pizza delivery place. And they let you order to go, what's not to love?

Unwelcoming and unfriendly staff. New to area and thought this might be a fun local, not the case. Other customers left the pub and said thanks goodbye but were ignored. So sad as many establishments are going through a tough time. They seem to cater for tours and trips .One off visits.

Lovely, friendly place with a warm and cosy atmosphere. The Sunday roast was excellent, as was the lemon cheesecake to follow. Hubby had the sticky toffee pudding, which was delicious. 10 out of 10 from us! Thank you Chequer's Team..your warm welcome made our visit special. We can't wait to return!

cute place on the corner, great interiors and beautiful outside area where we sat and enjoyed a ride bike. They obviously had a burg before the day, so we were a little disappointed, not to play, but unlike that, it was good. we saw that they have an outdoor pizza oven, the pizzas looked amazing and the feedback of the customers they had was good.

My partner and I saw this pub en route to a campsite we were staying at. Decided to see if they had a spare table for 2 for a Sunday Roast. They were able to oblige and we chose starters of whitebait /creamy garlic mushrooms followed by Roast Beef/Roast Pork. It was one of the best Roast lunches I've ever had. It was so fresh and tasty. No frozen veg!! The beer was also good and the landlord friendly. We would definitely visit again when we're in the area.

Update... It has been taken over by the lovely Salvatore and Noemi. It now has an Italian feel to the food. The food is top notch. Salvatore cooks wonderful food, although the pizza chef has changed the pizzas are still good. Still a fantastic local pub, but with a great restaurant attached now : Since Greg and Moyra have been here it is a transformed place. Best pizza anywhere, great beer and an excellent team. You will struggle to find a better village pub.

Dined here with a mate after a 40 mile bike. We were hungry and thirsty and weren't in the mood for anything fancy. The Chequers delivered. We went into some detail with Dom who looked after us as to whether the steak and ale pie was a proper pie with pastry all round or merely a pretend pie, namely a bowel of stew with a bit of puff pastry chucked onto top. Dom assured us that the pie was a proper pie and it did not disappoint when it arrived. Just a couple of niggles, the veg that came with the pie was just a small ramakin of peas although I'm sure a side order of veg was available on the sides menu had I have looked.
