"We arrived last Saturday 31/12 the 4 of us having booked a couple of days before and we're greeted with smiles all round. We each chose a different starter which were gorgeous! When it came to the main we chose to go for the chefs...recommendation which was the salmon and chicken which again I could not fault! The wine I felt was a bit expensive but id still pay for it. We also felt it was a bit too bright but again we didn't mind too much! The beer was also very nice. Lastly we chose to go for 4 brownies which were divine! Finished by the best coffees we have had for a long time! We will be coming back again for sure! We'll done guys 10/10!"

cozy, welcoming, traditional pub. varied selection of beers and everything well maintained. when they rely on a taxi, make sure they book their return flight on their trip to the outside!

A warm sunny afternoon with a cold beer in a large beer garden with a quiet country village. What more could you ask for? Friendly bar staff and a large array of beers and ales The chilli peanuts were delicious

probably the best I ever had. if they are looking for a cozy pub with great food next to an open fire, then they found it. make sure they book, although it is very busy. ask for jamie and say, jack. they have sat.

Great old fashioned drinking house. If you appreciate great beers, perfectly kept, and are not up yourself too far to have a laugh then this is the best pub in the shire . If you dont and are, then stay away . Here endeth the lesson.

Unless you're from round these parts I wouldn't bother. Not particularly friendly maybe because it was busy with locals couldn't be bothered to serve outsiders. We visited to see if it was somewhere we could come back to another time for something to eat but...wouldn't risk it

Just visited for a few drinks after a long country walk, nice enough basic village pub but let down by service. Not a remotely welcoming attitude from barman, no smile, no please or thank you. It costs nothing to make a customer feel welcome and...at ease, but a sullen and off hand approach means no point returning here for us. Beer ok I suppose.

We visited here on Saturday 18th March and had a drink and a bar snack......unfortunately it was one of those WALK IN AND EVERYTHING STOPS kind of pubs.Open fire and wide screen tv with rugby on and decent old traditional furnishings in a wonderful...village....but come on Mr Landlord......... at least chat/face your customers.visited 18th march 2017

"a difficult review when the restaurant tried to provide the service that I am sure they wanted. a busy Saturday midday in December, all the tables were tightly packed, there were no ceiling ventilation or were all windows open to provide covid ventilation protection. the menu is large with a lot of choice. we went for a selection of starters to share under the family. most were very small dishes, the flower flowers bites consisted only small floccules. I think that this was too expensive for everyone. for the net I divided half a steak/ale cake and crispy chili bark. the bark in the torte was chewing and blande, the chips rode in a customs of their life, and the muddy peas were simply crushed, cultivated garden. the chili beef on the other side was sensational, fully spiced, steaming hot and loads of it, with rice and crack. the dishes could no longer differ in quality and taste. similar mixed results were reported from the rest of the table. I appreciate that covid has hit local food companies hard and they are still trying to get their pre-pandemic service. there were many guests who were fed and the kitchen struggled to supply consistency; our main dishes were delivered in intervals, so we did not eat together and it took to put the net on the table. as mentioned it was brushed, but a service fee was added to the bill. I think this is a bad service, even if one takes into account the difficulties of the covid. I hope that this feedback will be taken and traded so that we can see an improvement when we visit next."

"[edit] kept me a promise to return to food, and I was not disappointed. We have sung with friends that we haven't seen for over five years, and it was the ideal choice to recover from a beautiful meal. A warm and welcoming welcome from all employees, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We ordered drinks from the bar and immediately sat in the dining room. Menus and specialties of the day were provided. Although it was pretty busy, we never felt cramped or that it was too loud as it could be in other settings. The layout of the tables made our group of four feelings, we had private food, also occupied with any other table. We chose Pate (x2), mussels and engraving, followed by Red Lion Burger, Pasta parmigiana, fish and chips and duck. For dessert, Rhabarb crumb cake, sticky toffee pudding. All dishes came sharp with perfect timing. Our servers were always available for drinks, but never float ominous. The food here is excellent. Really. I haven't eaten it well for some time. A great thank you to Phil, John and her staff for having an evening to remember for all the right reasons. What the personal touch must be. You have just expanded the outdoor seating area, and I am happy to come back when it is warmer to enjoy some fine al fresco restaurants. [1. Review] We visited a birthday function here in the beer garden. What a beautiful pub that is. They even had a pizza van that made delicious fresh pizzas. The staff were efficient and extremely helpful and friendly, always on hand, and from the comments I heard from other diners in the pub, everyone had enjoyed their meals. I will definitely return with my family."
