"Popped into this pub for a spot of lunch. Spot being the operative world. I ordered Caesar salad with garlic bread. See photo. I waited a good 20 minutes for what can only be described as a very disappointing portion for a dinner. The garlic bread was 3 strips of garlic bread. Not a half slice. The chicken was over cooked and rubbery and the salad was very limited as was the Parmesan cheese. It was very sparse and certainly not £11.00 worth. It could have been so easily better. Even if you added more lettuce and Parmesan. It was appalling. I had to get up and leave and normally I would compliment on the food. But this was impossible to do so. Robbed is how I feel! Sorry the Crown but you are a pub not a fine dinning experience. Also had to wait nearly 25 minutes. I picked the salad as I thought it would be quick and a good hearty portion for £11.00."

New owner has landed and has had the pub about a month now. We fell upon it quite by chance after an enforced motorway diversion. He was very personable and passionate about his food and beers! Good luck. We will return.

The pub has recently changed ownership, so we decided to give it another chance. We are thrilled that we did because we had a fantastic roast in a new lively atmosphere. Even the drinks tasted better (it's amazing what a good cleaning of the pipes can do)! We highly recommend this place to everyone. Ver carta

Visited yesterday for a roast and it was one of, if not the best roast I have eaten (apart from mine! We have only been a few times but is a pleasure to visit, the staff always have a smile and are welcoming. In fact we enjoyed the pub so much we stayed for the rest of the day. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

We had a wonderful roast dinner today at The Crown, the portions were generous and everything was cooked beautifully. The sirloin of beef was cooked to perfection It was so nice to actually go out and have a roast that tastes as good as a home one!.very friendly and accomodating staff.Highly recommended Thank you!

The pub has a nice garden and is dog-friendly, but that is where the positives end. Our lunch was disappointing, with raw, white chips and tough, rubbery slices of ham. The eggs were the only edible part of the meal. The total cost for lunch, including drinks, was a hefty £35. When my husband expressed his dissatisfaction with the meal, the Landlady's response was dismissive. I would not recommend this place to anyone, unless you enjoy leaving with a bad taste in your mouth. Ver carta

I sent an enquiry through the pub website on 14th Sept and I 've still not had the courtesy of a reply. It 's now 21st September. Because of the lack of response from The Crown, we found somewhere else and had a delicious meal...that establishment will definitely be getting our repeat business! Why offer a 'contact us ' online form when no-one bothers to reply? We like to support local businesses, especially in these difficult times. The Crown must be doing well if they can afford to ignore enquiries from potential customers! We were a sizeable group too...sorry but it 's your loss!

The new manager was lovely and brought a breath of fresh air to the pub, which was very clean and bright. The Sunday Roast was average, with delicious lamb but a disappointing selection of vegetables. The side of cauliflower cheese was huge and could have been shared. The roast potatoes were not good, tasting undercooked with a strange flavor. The lack of dessert menu was disappointing, offering only ice cream and cake. The staff took a while to take our drink order, and were slow and not very knowledgeable. It was disappointing that there was no pink gin or pino available. The bar staff were also inappropriately dressed and scruffy, with one even wearing flip flops. It would have been nice...

"A slightly bizarre experience we were welcomed warmly, taken to our table, and given a menu for pre dinner drinks. No food menus were brought. We ordered drinks, which arrived, but still no menus! So we asked for them. No wine list brought. So we asked for one. All rather odd. The starters were mixed a bland crab risotto, a rather vinegary tartare, an excellent parfait and a crispy egg which needed to be runnier, but was tasty, if too salty. The odd service continued: three of the four of us had finished do the waiter cleared our plates including the one of our friend who hadn’t finished, who was left holding a cracker in her hand! The mains were again mixed and generally over salty. The ravioli were excellent; the steak good but in a sauce which was heavy handed on the seasoning, the fish pleasant, again slightly salty and verging on the overcooked. We had chocolate soufflé for pudding generally well made and tasty, but again the service was odd an ice cream was pushed into it at the table by the waiter which caused a good amount of soufflé to fall inelegantly onto the serving plate; the cheese plate was an interesting but small selection of well kept cheese. Good petit fours (though we were surprised that one containing nuts was offered to us all despite one of us not eating nuts, which we had mentioned). So probably four stars over all, but only just. It’s good to see the restaurant open again but based on this experience, while it’s fine dining, it’s got some way to go to reach the standard of cooking I’m sure they’d like to aspire to."
