The Crown & Anchor - Carta

Nice pub and they were very helpful with moving us to a bigger table so that we were more comfortable. Food is decent but a bit overpriced when asking for extra items (eg extra cheese).

I stopped by for a drink on Christmas Day lunch. The interior is lovely, and they are very welcoming to dogs, just like the owner. The landlady even gave my dog a treat - half a chopped saveloy! If I lived nearby, I would make this my go-to spot. It's a nice place with well-maintained beers and a charming landlady.

After attending a show in the West End, my husband and I decided to have a few drinks. However, when my husband went to order more drinks, he was wrongly accused of being drunk and denied service. This came as a shock to us, as we had been enjoying great manners and service during our visit from Ireland. We would advise other international visitors to steer clear of this place. Ver carta

The food experience at this restaurant was disappointing. The Caesar salad was underwhelming, with very small amounts of anchovies, Parmesan, and dressing - it would have been unacceptable if I hadn't ordered the chicken as an extra. My friend's vegan burger was just okay, but the onion rings were soggy. On the bright side, the staff were efficient and friendly, and it was wonderful that dogs are so welcome.

The service at this restaurant was subpar, the food was overly salty and lacked flavor, and it was overpriced. Additionally, we were served dishes we did not order and there was a significant wait time for our meals. Despite the restaurant being empty, we were seated next to a loud group. To top it off, they did not serve warm beverages. The only redeeming quality was the nice interior design, preventing it from being a one-star experience.

During my last visit, the staff were unpleasant and the manager was extremely confrontational. This is not the first time I have received poor service at this restaurant, and it will be the last. Other recent reviewers who had a similar negative experience were unfortunately correct. I suggest staying away from this miserable place and hoping it goes out of business. I walked up to the bar to try once again to be served and to address the staff member about his behavior. However, I was aggressively told to sit back down and mocked for suggesting my friend had been intimidated. To my surprise, the manager then approached me from the bar and demanded I sit down as well. Not wanting to cause a scene, I returned to my table as both staff members were becoming confrontational. The customer service provided by the first staff member was awful, as making threats and being hostile in a family pub is completely unacceptable. Thankfully, for the remainder of our visit, we were served by helpful and attentive staff.

This used to be a great place for a Sunday roast, one of the best in London. We went today and it’s clearly a completely different kitchen. Both ordered roast beef. Sadly the beef was over cooked and the vegetables horribly undercooked to the point they were inedible. The gravy was like water, the roast potatoes pale, anaemic and hard. The Yorkshire pudding was soggy. The cauliflower cheese was plain odd and half full of uncooked cabbage. And no seasoning on anything. Such a shame as it used to be brilliant. That said the lady that served us was lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. No signs of any agree management! Just a shame about the food today but, as a local, will give it another go p...

Had the absolute best experience at Crown Anchor for a Christmas Roast with friends. We were a large group of 20, so I was super impressed with how quickly the food came out and we all got our food at pretty much the same time. I had the veggie mushroom, spinach and tofu Wellington with cauliflower cheese on the side which was so delicious. All the roasts came with plentiful trimmings roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots, red cabbage, sprouts and a Yorkshire pud. Oh and plentiful gravy too! Everyone commented on how filling and delicious their meal was. The staff had also very kindly added some extra special touches such as crackers on the table, to make our experience all the more Christmas... Ver carta
