The Ethicurean - Carta

This is a really lovely restaurant and our table had beautiful views across the splendid gardens to the countryside beyond. The waiting staff are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The food is absolutely delicious and uses fresh seasonal ingredients which are prepared to perfection. We really...enjoyed every single dish and cannot wait to return. We would highly recommend this place!

the ethicurean is truly spectacular. her tasting menu creates a careful balance between clever inventiveness with ingredients and domestic, rustic simplicity. many of the ingredients are cultivated in the walls of their gardens, and most of them come locally. the overall effect is to take a really original, especially British menu on a tasting that must surely say goodbye to a Michelin star. the cocktails are also excellent. we have eaten wonderful meals all over the world, and look at the foodie snobs, but that was really one of the greatest meal times we have ever eaten.

Inventive and inspired cooking which prompted us to go home and look at the allotment and surrounding hedgerows in a new light. So much thought and effort had gone into the various elements of the meal, including where in the garden dishes were served ..no plot spoilers here) and on the combinations of tastes, textures and techniques. The service was friendly, attentive and well paced so often one is rushed through in under two hours but here we had plenty of time to savour. Great atmosphere too. We were treated by someone to the Ethicurean experience. We went on an ideal evening, dry but cool, and were able to enjoy moving around the stations' that make up the experience, starting and ending outside and with drinks and food at different locations inside....Lots of courses, wine flight was optional. No alcoholic drinks were included in the quite considerable price. The place is niche and very into all things eco. Some of the food was excellent, especially the mains', though they dont really come that way. We were there for four hours and it might have been five but we had to leave. Is it worth the cost? Yes, I would say so. It's pretty unique.

the environment is beautiful with views of the mendips. a magnificent walk through the walled garden to the restaurant gives a preview of some of the ingredients for the meal. in style, the restaurant is simple, but comfortable and the staff are charming, friendly...and unobtrusively efficient. we had the Pescatarian menu. each of the courses was special on its own way and uses local ingredients to offer different flavors, rugged and textures. at our visit this beetroot, sea buckthorn, jerusal world artichokes, wild garlic, buttermilk etc. each plate was beautifully presented and it is content well explained by the waiting staff. it may be on the expensive side, but it is worth a special occ...

I had lunch at the Ethicurean with 7 of my school friends as part of our annual reunion weekend. We had the 6 course tasting menu with the wine pairing. It was one of the most amazing meals we'd ever had. The quality of the...cooking was second to none with the freshest of ingredients, all hand-picked from their impressive kitchen garden. The service was also exceptional- the team were incredibly attentive and extremely knowledgeable with every course and wine pairing presented with passion. They even managed to go out of their way to post my jacket back to my home in London having realised i'd left it there slightly forgivable after 6 glasses of wine and a few ciders from their orchard. After I received a gift voucher in 2020 at a height of 50 pfund for the restaurant, I was very sad to hear that the restaurant had closed due to the effects of the pandemic. I was pleased, however, that the owners were determined to honour all the vouchers that were issued after the reopening of the...restaurant. We went to the Ethicurean Experience (inc additional wine flight) last week as a birthday treat. Starting by walking through the gardens with a glass of fennel cordial (delicious moving up to the restaurant entrance for a cup of the most amazing miso. These were...both lovely and I'm sure great a bit earlier in the year when its not dark....but at this time of year, we'd have preferred to go straight inside. You can't see the gardens in the dark so we were loitering around! What a great location! What a great experience! First you are greeted at the entrance to the Walled Garden with a drink created from products from the garden, then drink in hand you can wander through the gardens. We arrived just after sunset and experienced...the afterglow in the sky. At the restaurant you are treated to another delicacy which you can also consume outside. Once inside you get another two hors d'oeuvres with an optional cocktail before being seated. In all you, including the food served outside (finishing after the main meal around a fire pit), you get 10 or 11 novel items to try.
