"We found the restaurant easily and were greeted by the waitress taken to our table, which was a nice cosy table, asked if we wanted any drinks which we had a wine and a pint of their beer. We selected what we wanted to eat, and we served very efficiently. The shepherds pie was delicious. My wife had the vegetarian cheese and leek pie which she said, was very nice. The starters I had pigs head croquettes. My wife had the selection that for catcher bread, we both enjoyed our meal immensely. "

The meal was excellent, as was the service. We celebrated a birthday with champagne and a delicious home-cooked roast dinner.

We had a great time during our visit and are considering staying overnight next time. The service was outstanding, and the food and drinks were excellent.

Looking for a last minute dinner option while visiting York we looked up local reviews and came across The Fat Badger. I had the Battered Haddock and hubs had lamb I think. Anyway the Haddock was awesome and hubs really enjoyed his meal.......it was the best meal he had had since travelling Europe began 4 weeks ago. The environment is nice and cosy and quirky and the staff friendly. In FACT we are going back tonight
