The Fitzwalter Arms

Had a lovely lunch at the Fitzwalter Arms after a visit to Goodenstone Gardens. Been once before, now under new management and hugely improved. Lily the waitress was brilliant, and food was delicious. We had the moules and pint of prawns, would highly recommend

Sunday lunch to celebrate my daughters birthday. There were 12 in our party. We all got our food at the same time and it was delicious. My mum and grandson had the half size portions which was fab for them. Staff are lovely, great atmosphere and lovely beer garden.

Fantastic service and fantastic food the new people that run this pub well done you were so welcoming i’ve been here a few times over the years and this is the best yet keep up the good work compliments to the chef. We went for lunch and the food was amazing. We had a variety of different meals between us including the Sunday Roast. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff and fellow diners were really friendly. The service was attentive and the food was delivered in a timely manner. We will definitely be visiting again and would whole heartedly recommend this venue.

We were warmly welcomed this weekend at the restaurant and were very impressed. The staff were excellent, despite the fact that there was a fan of Wycombe among them. We look forward to returning to finish our darts match with Joseph and hope that Stevie's 18th birthday party preparation went well. We will also be back to finish the coloring book soon. The food and service at this restaurant were amazing. It was nice to see the place bustling with diners. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The portion sizes were generous, with the option to order half portions for half the price. The menu had a wide variety of options to suit all tastes. I have already made a reservation for Sunday lunch. The new owners have clearly done a great job! Ver carta

We stopped in for lunch knowing that there are new owners and were delighted to find that one of our go to walking pubs has been reinvigorated and to top it off the food is FABULOUS! Satay chicken and marinated fried beef starters were a taste sensation, homemade burger and chips were delicious and the beef and ginger took me back to the days of Canterburys wonderful bistro Vietnam. The pub is immaculate and the garden is taking great shape, can’t wait to return. Lucky Goodnestone enjoy your new gem. Claire and Joe

What a fab surprise! Had been in for a drink previously and then decided to go for lunch with friends. With 2 gluten free in our group, we were thrilled and delighted to find a very gluten free kitchen quite a few ‘different’ dishes too so above your average offering. We all thoroughly enjoyed the delightful interior of this old pub and friendly and knowledgable host and staff .. what a great experience! We’re arranging to go back for Sunday Lunch and really looking forward to it! Thanks so much to the lovely folk at The Fitzwalter Arms, we’ll see you again soon!

I understand that the staff were doing their best, but considering we paid full price despite a shortage of staff, I have to give this restaurant a rating of 3. We were informed that the restaurant has changed ownership since our last visit, when we had a great meal. Unfortunately, this time the roast beef was tough and extremely rare. Our dog seemed to enjoy it though. The french beans were undercooked, far from being 'al dente'. We had to use our own tissues as there were no napkins on the table, and none were offered to us. The Lemon and Lime cheesecake I ordered was bland, so much so that I had my husband taste it to confirm. It was difficult to identify the topping. We were also surpris... Ver carta
