"a half quiet and small restaurant. the eating was quite good and the ambiente was friendly, casual, at home like. the staff was friendly and always busy. a bit too busy to time, as we had to wait a bit too long between the curses and get them to the table, took a few waves. only 2 employees. a beautiful place and I would return."

"This was the second time I had been for lunch there in 4 days. We had booked both times. On Friday there were two of us but we waited 40 mins for our lunch to be served but were given coffees on the house to compensate for the wait. I did put our wait down to the fact that a lot of people were having the Christmas menu which was pre-ordered so they didn't have to wait too long for theirs and we were ordering from the ordinary menu. Today there were six of us booked in for 1.00pm. Again there was quite a wait for our starters and once we'd finished them we then had a good 25-30 mins wait for our main courses. We couldn't put this down to people having the pre-booked Christmas menu as it is not offered on a Monday. In fact we were at first given the Sunday menus as the staff had not changed them to the weekday menus! One of the main courses was returned as the beef was so tough the person wasn't able to cut it. I ordered a coffee after the mains and there was one pudding ordered. My coffee took more than 10 mins to arrive and after another long wait we cancelled the pudding order and asked for the bill. The cost of the beef was deducted but there was no apology for the long waits. We won't be going back."

"Went there last night for the first time. The place was packed until the final bell and it's not hard to see why. The space is old and traditional, warm and welcoming. It was quite obvious that the staff believe in their pub; the service was very good and the host and servers mostly all made the effort for personal contact that felt in no way strained or insincere. The highlight was the food. Some of the best food I've had in a long time, and my group agreed wholeheartedly. I had the wood pigeon pastrami and the beef pie. No words to describe how good, except to say I ate slowly to savour every bite. At the table, high applause for the regular AND the gluten free fish chips, and the braised beef bonbon. The only issue is lack of parking, which can't be helped, but I would be happy to walk from Romsey town centre in the pouring rain to sit by the fire at The Three Tuns and enjoy the food. Highly recommend."

"Very disappointed with the food from here. All the curries were just watery slop with boiled meat and veg in. Perhaps I ordered wrongly but there was very little to distinguish them apart from that one was incredibly spicy. Appetisers were fine but nothing to write home about. Thai fish cakes were dry and mushy. Perhaps I just don't like Thai food... I really don't understand why anyone would order this over a Chinese as you get far more for your money and much more variation... Unfortunately I will not be going back."

"First time and definitely not the last! Beautiful barn and setting for a spot of food/ coffee or a wedding. Great menu with lots of vegetarian options which was nice to see. Big drinks menu, I liked how the drinks were broken down e.g. caffeinated etc… We had the vegetarian breakfast and mushroom toast which couldn’t be faulted, tasted amazing! Coffee and orange juice was great and well presented. The staff were welcoming and service was brilliant. Great decor and atmosphere throughout. Toilets, clean and smelt amazing my wife said. Lots of room for parking on site. Nice outdoor seating area next to the stream. Small gift shop in the entrance. Will be returning soon!"
