It's a nice place. I had a Chicken burger, which was lovely, Fries could have been a bit hotter, hubby had fish and chips and said his chips could have been hotter. Food was overall excellent.. unfortunately my wife had lamb that was very tough .. she mentioned it to the waiter who acted immediately and replaced the lamb .. we were very impressed with the service and the new lamb was delicious! We were seated quickly . Our server was a lovely young man who took our drinks order quickly. We saw our order sat on the bar for 10 minutes before it was brought to us. The food was lovely we all had Sunday lunch but the kitchen let us down with the extra colly cheese we ordered it was just dry colly, no sauce. The server returned it to the kitchen and it arrived back at our table after we had finished our meal. Needles to say it was returned. That let down ny birthday evening a bit but overall was very nice.

Atmosphere: Nice atmosphere with a candle on each table. Dog-friendly. Though the one near us was obscured by a dining table, there are real log fires. Food: I ordered the pie of the day (beef in red wine with puff pastry), which was hot and a little empty (see pic), but the sides were cold. Service: Our waiter, Karen, was friendly and attentive. I mentioned the cold sides to her, and a fresh set of sides were immediately ordered without question. My wife's meal was perfect. If it hadn't been for Karen, I probably wouldn't visit again; however, I am now happy to give it another try.

GREAT SURROUNDINGS AND A LOVELY ATMOSPHERE, STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND ACCOMANDATING, I TOOK MY FAMILY OF FOUR ADULTS AND A CHILD THIS SATURDAY PAST, ALL THE FAMILY ENJOYED THIER FOOD THAT LOOKED DELIGHTFUL, MINE HOWEVER GAMMON AND CHIPS WAS VERY VERY COLD AND THE GAMMON WAS UNDER COOKED, EVERYTHING ON MY PLATE WAS COLD CHIPS, PEAS, EGGS, AND THE GAMMON I AM TOO POLITE TO HAVE COMPLAINED ON THE DAY BUT FEEL I MUST POINT THIS OUT AS ITS NOT WHAT I EXPECT AFTER TRAVELLING 35 MILES FOR SATURDAY LUNCH, I AM SURE THIS WAS JUST A MISTAKE AND IT CERTAINLEY WASNT THE CASE WITH MY GUESTS FOOD.
