"My husband and I live 16 miles up the coast. We spent the day cove and beach hopping, and ended up in St Mawes at dinner time. We popped in on the off chance of a table and were happily told they could accommodate us. We had cocktails followed by a three course meal and two glasses of wine (one of which an expensive but delicious dessert wine). The food was exceptional. The bill was £290, so definitely on the expensive side, but the staff, decor and food were all extremely high quality. We were also pretty scruffy (having only planned a day of sightseeing) and nobody other than the couple seated next to us looked down their nose at us, especially not the staff. I would recommend for a special occasion, a romantic meal, or if you are like us, a spontaneous blowout :-D"

The restaurant is located in a fabulous location with a great staff. We had lunch there today and the food was excellent. It was a lovely day in St Mawes. The service was top-notch and the location was perfect. The hotel itself was luxurious with a great view and offered great value.

The turndown service never showed up. There were kids partying on the beach late into the night. The bar service was friendly but not very helpful. Overall, not worth the expense. Perhaps if you are staying in St Mawes, this is the kind of experience you are looking for. From, another fellow oversized Volvo driver.

we booked the night in the idle rocks. from the moment we arrived, we were treated with greatest respect. the whole place is immaculate and the love for detail flows through. the personal could not do enough. eating is excellent. a very high quality establishment and will definitely return. many thanks for an absolutely fantastic stay.

I can't blame idle rocks. excellent management, fantastic eating and the most beautiful staff. it is rare to find a restaurant of this high standard where the staff is so friendly! if they are happy enough to go on a sunny evening and in the position to dinate alfresco, then the view over the water everywhere on the world is unmatched. they are constantly improving and are just a great team.
