"We had booked a table via OpenTable. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were informed by a very confused employee, that the restaurant was closed that night (she was also unaware of the name of their restaurant). Naturally we could not dine there. We tried to make a reservation for another night by contacting the restaurant directly, but never got any reply. Based on this experience, I would not recommend either the Jib Door at the Islay House or OpenTable. For this trip we have another booking via OpenTable, hopefully it will not end at the same kind of disaster."

The restaurant has been closed for over a month, so it hasn't been able to serve any customers.

Very friendly place. Posh and special. We were visiting with a 3 years old, so we were the noisy table. But staff was very friendly and made special dish for wee one. Ver carta

It is a lovely venue, the staff were so friendly. The chef came out to meet us which was a lovely touch. They made us feel very special. I would recommend to friends to go to the bar and restaurant when they are in Islay.

beautiful characterful dining room with good service and local menu. we really enjoyed our dinner here. I had scallops as pornstars, my friend had a starter and huh. problems were quickly resolved to our satisfaction. so pleased that we don't feed here anymore.

We visited this location right after they opened back up after the holidays so it was VERY quiet. We basically got treated to a personal experience as we were the only ones in the restaurant! The food was outstanding and it was such a romantic experience. Would definitely recommend anyone to try out this restaurant.

We had an excellent dinner at Islay House. Classic dishes beautifully presented, and prepared with finesse that is rare to find in Scotland. The restaurant is also great value compared to other limited options on the island, and the dining room is beautiful, yet perhaps a bit too sparsely decorated. Altogether the best dining option on the island.
