I want to give a better review for the sheer fact the pub's atmosphere is very chill with a nice outdoor seating area.

Generally O.K. Opted for the roast BEEF, big mistake. So thin, you could have shone a torch through it and what meat there was, appeared to held together with a series of elastic bands. DISGUSTING Ver carta

we sat outside in the heated tent and had the fried chicken starter - not bad, better sauce, and the pork croquettes that were delicious and with an amazing bath. my partner had the guts, it was nice, but didn't blow us away. Oh, my dick. belly was ridiculously good. it was extremely naughty (as herzinfarkt frech) but exactly what they want from a pig-glocke teller. salty, umami quality. amazing soy-based sauce, sesame and chili run through. unbelievable!

love the alma, nice local. lunch for 4 on Tuesday 24/05/22 was a farewell, should have said something, with sons don't want a steam. all the dishes were salted. who blows salt on huge? the deep fried cauliflower so salty unedible. the regular chef was out or can't deal with constructive feedback? the steak was ordered medium rare was over. on the plus side the waitress was nice, the chips were okay. I wouldn't go to dinner again. cut the salt alma too much!

I used to love this pub and supported them throughout lockdown by buying takeaway beers every weekend when I walked past. I was recently turned away with my two month old baby when we tried to walk in for dinner because they say they have...a policy of no under 11s, allegedly because of something to do with covid. I get they don’t want babies crying in their pub, but just be honest about that rather than making something up about covid. It was embarrassing. Sometimes eating here is amazing (there is prawn sambal they did before a dae was to die, but other paints are hardly edible. I find the sunday roasts especially hit and miss. I don't know what methods they use there bratkartoffeln, but they are like hard tasteless rocks. I guess they were precooked, then microshaft, but really not safe. I have met this on more than one meal. at the last visit my partner ordered the vegetarian haggis that he found unusable, it veggie options are not big general, as they are all quite oily! so sadly I don't think I'll be able to convince my vegetarian partner to eat there again. sad, as they are also very capable of spending some really delicious food. A total disappointment. We had chosen this pub on recommendation, because the food is supposed to be good and it is dog friendly Rang up at around 5:30 on a Sunday to check about the dog and were told “we love dogs here”. Asked if...we could book a table , and we’re told no need there will be plenty of space. Arrive at the pub less than 90 minutes later, having spent money to travel there from our hotel, only to be told that all the tables were reserved (unless we wanted to sit outside (it’s the end of October and about 8c outside). Perhaps in keeping with other recent reviews, we had some problems confirming our large group booking, and like so many places, the whole covid and brexit situation has probably impacted on admin efficiency. However, staff were very pleasant and helpful when we rang to make...sure our arrangements were confirmed, and we had an excellent long lunch for a large group under the awning in the Alma's garden. The food is of excellent restaurant quality as before, and service was friendly and chatty. Thus we think this remains one of the best SE London places to have really high quality and interesting food in a classic pub environment.
