"The Mustard Tree is a community cafe situated in the Methodist church on the main road in the village centre. We actually almost drove past as, because of the lighting, it looked shut. This must be a recognised problem because they have a sign outside asking you to come in because “we are open!” Fortunately, eagle-eyed Mrs H spotted the sign. The village of Hurworth is utterly charming and the cafe has a lovely atmosphere with a mix of clientele, some people coming for lunch while others meet for a chat or to catch up with some stuff on their laptops. We just had tea, coffee and scones, all of which were top notch, as was the service. This is a lovely place and, having marked it on the car map (I’m old fashioned sometimes! we will certainly return whenever we are in the area."
