"We were recommended this restaurant for its fabulous Sunday Lunch. The service was good until we got served our meal. I wanted extra gravy and some water for the table. We couldn't get service, so I had to leave my food and go into the bar to find a waitress. We had to ask twice for an extra beer and a coffee as it was taking a little long for both to arrive. We were never asked how the food was during our meal. When our plates were collected, Lauren the waitress asked how everything was....we said the pork belly was terrible, it was extremely tough She said oh you should have said (meaning its our fault I would have changed it for you ....our reply, we couldn't get service and really you could have changed it for a better one ....Her reply, well some are tough and others aren't!!!! . We were seated not far from the kitchen door and were able to hear all the chatter from inside the kitchen, not a nice thing to hear. Disappointed as we had travelled over a half an hour to get there. Sadly we would not recommend and will not be going back."

Excellent a-la-carte meal in front of the fireplace. The new manager, Dan, looked after us very well ! We shall definitely be returning.

not sure how many stars for no beer (only bigger) or olives take off. but otherwise everything is very good. a manager might need a start?

We really enjoyed our lunch here great menu choices lovely out door area. Perfect spot to catch up half way for us between houses at Basingstoke and Southampton.

Very busy evening so service was stretched. However our waitress Holly coped extremely well., Food and drinks were very satisfactory. New manager Toby very friendly !

my wife and I always like to go to the old forge. personal friendly and efficient. interestingly, if we order a bottle of wine, it needs to come old. one of our friends today suggested that the waitress had gone to New Zealand to collect them.

at our first visit in the old forge was a nice lunch and the booking on the line was easy. it was estimated that they responded to our request for a quiet table. Eating was good and a varied menu, well presented and a clean and welcoming environment. very clean loos too. I'm glad we're back.

the food was in order, but the service was a little slow on the day we went. we asked for a common record as starter and that was forgotten, not much excuse when we asked. we also asked for a few contingents for our main thing, and when they arrived, we had finished our meals. what a really nice pub could be is a little left with the service.

My husband and I were welcomed with a smile and escorted to our table immediately on arrival the atmosphere was wonderful and the log fire was an extra special delight ! Jazz , who apparently was on her first ‘shift’ was warm ,helpful and engaging she was ‘shadowed ‘ by another member of staff who was equally warm-hearted and made Jazz feel at ease as she directed her what to do. At each stage of our meal we had prompt service accompanied by smiles.
