"If you are looking for an unspoiled riverside pub with a friendly atmosphere then search this one out on the next sunny weekend. I arrived last weekend to an amazing welcome, to be fair it was not my first visit but I only visit a few times a year. There is a good choice of beer and cider, including Thatchers Gold as a slushy. The pub food is big in quality and big in size, be warned because the staff may jokingly described the full rack of ribs as being like something out of the Flintsones but that is pretty accurate; even excessive eaters will not be disappointed (mere mortals and sensible eaters might want to share or order a half rack)."

Cheap and cheerful meals and drinks, more staff needed at times, and the toilets always seem to need more attention. lovely place to take your dog

This is one of my favorite pubs in Bristol. It has a traditional atmosphere and serves the best pints. The drive here can be a bit fun, especially if you have to navigate the one-lane road with traffic.

If you're a tourist in search of a traditional English pub with lots of history, then the Old Lock Weir is the perfect choice. With a history dating back three hundred years, this pub offers a true taste of old England.

Popped in for some lunch with the girlfriend today and had a really good pub meal. Nice menu that had enough choices without being over the top. We had a burger and the home made faggots and were both really pleased. Service was friendly and relatively quick and the meals were good value for money. Would thoroughly recommend and will be going back once it warms up as they have a really nice outdoors section by the river. Also dog friendly which suits us

Disappointing ... the staff are almost pissed off to receive people ... the food was below average and almost puked when we found hair in our food ... already had enough with long wait for drinks and sauces anyway so ... we just couldn’t be bothered to stick around ... sad as it is such a nice location , the kids enjoyed the walk though ... maybe the staff are too tired ..! If the owners or management take notice , I have noticed a 11 more comments saying staff are RUDE .. so it Looks like we weren’t the only ones ..! Shame ...

Booking essential as very popular. Small quaint Old world pub with a friendly, cosy atmosphere right by the edge of the river in Hanham. Good general menu which include vegetarian and vegan choices. The Sunday roast is excellent, meats include half roast chicken, roast beef, lamb shank, pork and nut roast served with all the trimmings. My choice of beef was beautiful, tender, tasty just like a home cooked lunch but without the effort of cooking yourself. Highly recommended, we'll work the visit and will be going back to enjoy again in the very near future.

"I was excited to revisit the New Inn after many years, as it used to be a favorite spot of mine. My group of 8 had pre-ordered at the request of the New Inn, but we were told 15 minutes after our booking time that our food was just being prepared. An hour later, our food still hadn't been served. After checking with the staff, the manager assured us that our order was next. Another 10 minutes passed before our food finally arrived. The gammon came with sides that we didn't like and were not mentioned on the menu. The portions were oversized, which was nice, but they were too much and off-putting. The salad trimmings were of poor quality. The fish in batter was enjoyed by those who ordered it. The main meals were okay, but I would have preferred better quality over quantity. We had to chase the staff for a glass of water, and even after being offered dessert menus, no one came to take our order. When we decided to follow up at the bar, the manager seemed more interested in finding out which staff member had failed to take our order than in solving the issue. The service was okay but could have been better, as no one checked on us after our meals were served. It seems like the staff could benefit from more positive training from a supportive mentor. When we asked for the bill, it took a while for it to be brought to us, so we ended up paying on the way out. It's a shame, as I had fond memories of the New Inn, but I am unlikely to return after this experience."
