The Orangery At St Elphin's Park

I went with friends and we all had a decent meal but nothing special. The food was fine but the menu is getting very boring now.

Pleasant meal out with friends. My blade of beef was a bit fatty but tasted good. I do however wish gravy was served separately as my beef was a bit drowned. All the other dishes were fine.

It was party night and went very well. The guitar man is always good and the finger food was tasty. The samosas and bhajis were excellent. The cheese board could have done with a few more crackers but that is a minor quibble.

Three of us dined and we were the only ones in when we ordered. Sadly when our meals came all were wrong. I had chunky chips not the fries I had ordered and my companions meals had no carrot on which was specified in the menu. It is depressing.

I dined with friends and we all had a good meal. two had fish and chips and two had scampi. All crisp and tasty. The accompaniments ranging from garden peas to mushy ones to salad were fine. It was going well until the joke till broke down so we only got a receipt for the food not our drinks. Amateur.

I dined with a friend and we had to ask what the soup was twice. Same waiter. I then ordered the brie and onion tart. I got half a small tart with salad and chutney so offered to pay half the price. That is really a disgrace. The main courses redeemed the poor start, my fish and chips were excellent and crisp and my friends liver and mash was tasty.

The soup and bread were fine but I think the description 'home made roll ' was a bit fanciful as it was a chunk of a sourdough French stick. Nice bread but not a home made roll. My main course was disappointing. I tried the calves liver which while nicely cooked, had not been adequately trimmed so had tubes and tough bits in, the gravy could have done with some onions and the mash with some reasoning.

I dined with friends and we tried the beef fajitas, a welcome special on the menu. It was served with fries, guacamole, sour cream and tomato salsa. The tacos were soft and the beef tasty. There were rather a lot of fresh chillies on the top which after trying one I removed as they were very lively. The beef would have been better sliced thinner and the peppers cooked less so they retained a little crunch. Another option for adding some texture would have been some crunchy lettuce to add. But a nice meal.

My friend and I went for fish and chips. I ordered large and she small. I had originally booked for four but two could not come so I altered the booking to two in the afternoon. The staff were unaware of this amendment. Why? We had to ask for menus as possibly they were waiting for the other two to arrive. But perhaps not. We ordered, and waited and waited and waited. Two other couples were clearly getting bored. It was over three quarters of an hour before we were served and my fish was no bigger than Carol's. I did not comment on this as I did want something to eat by then. I had to ask for pepper, why isn't it on the table? We also had to ask for water and I ordered a glass of wine. These...
