"Came here for lunch on a Saturday as we wanted a late lunch and most places stopped serving food at 2pm. Dog friendly in the bar and gardens, they made us and our large labradoodle very welcome, bringing over dog biscuits to welcome him they asked if it was OK first). Decent selection of pub grub, chips were freshly made, hot and crispy, perfect. The men had burgers, I chose the catch of the day. Seabass fillet on crushed potatoes with shredded cabbage, samphire and a lobster sauce with a very tasty garnish on the fish. The flavours worked together well and, the fish was perfectly cooked, succulent and tender, and it was all beautifully presented. Delicious. Head over the bridge on the same road, just about 100 yards away, and there's a Riverside footpath to your left, perfect for a post meal dog walk!"

We had family to visit and wanted to show them a village experience. The paper mills provided good beer, great atmosphere and really good food, the chicken supreme was lovely. Thank you

Fish of the day a dream dish Went here last night and had the specials fish dish was superb! Fillet of sea bream on a delicate bed of crushed new potatoes, with a delicate and flavourful sauce. Must say that we were bowled over by this dish. This chef works magic!

Came here for an evening meal with my daughter. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good choice of vegetarian options, The onion rings were insane! The best we’ve ever had! £40 for two main dishes, a side and two drinks was very good value. Would definitely come again if in the area.

This place is awesome and always great service. I made the huge mistake of changing venues so me and the Mrs and our two friends could try elsewhere, The Cuckoo at Alwalton and my word what a dire service we got. Wished we hadn’t changed venues. Straight back to The Paper Mills next time we meet up for Sunday lunch. Sorry for going elsewhere this time.

Having visited a few time over the past year or so, it appears to have gone “down hill” . We didn’t eat on this occasion, instead having a couple of beers in the garden. The garden/patio area clearly has not had any attention in weeks. Weeds growing through the paving, dog ends here and there. Empty sauce sachets laying around , over flowing ash trays, and a motorcycle parked in among the covered area. Drain rods and traffic cones dotted around the place. Why??? This used to be a good place , and probably still is . Attention to detail!!

We want to take a minute to recommend The Paper Mills in Wandsworth for their roast dinners. We've been 3 times now in groups ranging from 7 to 2 people. Each time the team there have been great very friendly and accommodating. The food is consistently excellent and the meat inparticular is AMAZING. I've got to the point where I pay extra to have both the belly pork and the beef because I don't want to choose either! A big thumbs up from us, we wouldn't shout about somewhere we know couldn't always back it up! Proper country spot with fantastic food and warm atmosphere

"We 're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a normal day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn 't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The Chantenay carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it 's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn 't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal but we do intend to try again because it 's such a wonderful building and we 've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we 're not really sure."
