"Found this pub on Tripadvisor when looking for somewhere after Longleat balloons. Don’t be put off by the website which is a bit clunky and out of date. We’d rung ahead to book, and received a warm welcome, and they had a good selection of draft beers and ciders. Outside was busy, there were plenty of tables inside, although we found one on the terrace. We were advised there might be a wait for food, so we ordered the bread and olives board to keep us going. This was nice, good chunky bread with tasty pesto and chilli jam. I had chicken and chips main, which was generous with lots of parmigiana and fresh veggies. My wife had pulled pork in a bun with chips and slaw, which was lovely, but she struggled to finish. It had a nice friendly atmosphere, lots of dogs (including ours) and staff were all very pleasant, albeit busy. Riverside setting is gorgeous on a summer evening, but I’d imagine it’s warm and cosy inside in the winter too. Seemed very popular with locals, but we were made to feel welcome. Recommended."

Excellent friendly service. Great food, a little expensive but you get what you pay for. Local brewery with good beer. Really enjoyed our visit. Dog friendly too.

Booked here for lunch on our way back from Dorset to Kent and it was fabulous. The restaurant was so busy and had a real buzz which was lovely. Our service was swift and food delicious, served by very pleasant staff. Couldn’t fault it! Ver carta

We all ordered something different and we all had a totally delicious meal, freshly and perfectly cooked. A huge step up from usual pub food. The staff were great and equally friendly to us and our 3 dogs. The location is gorgeous. We will be back soon!

A favourite place to visit. Parking can be tricky when it's busy as it's located in a small hamlet. Beautiful location particularly in the spring and summer months. A note to the owners: your website appears not to have been updated since 2020 with Covid notices everywhere and that you serve meals on wheels! Otherwise always good!

One of the best restaurants we’ve been to in years! Came here for lunch today. Friendly staff managed to put us on a lovely table by the river in the sunshine. Food was served super fast and was hot and delicious! Definitely recommend the roast dinner and the sticky date pudding. We absolutely loved everything…the setting, the food, the friendly staff, the weather. Would love to book a table every Sunday for the rest of my life!! Thank you for having us. Ver carta

We were blown away by the fantastic service from the moment we walked in. Even though we are from out of town, we immediately felt at home. Evie provided outstanding service and made us feel like we were truly valued. The staff at the bar were also very friendly and made us feel right at home. The food was exceptional, so much so that I am planning to bring my mother from Birmingham just to dine here. Thank you to everyone at the restaurant for a wonderful experience.

This charming pub is located in a peaceful area and is well-managed with excellent cuisine. All of us enjoyed our meals, especially my delicious venison burger. We also had the opportunity to try one of the best bitters in the country, Butcombe from the Mendips. However, our experience was marred by an extremely loud customer at a nearby table, who seemed to think he owned the place. This individual dominated the room with his conversations, making it difficult for other diners to enjoy their meals. Despite the efforts of some diners to move away from the noise, it was impossible to escape. If you encounter this individual during your visit, it is best to find a quieter spot to enjoy your me...

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."
