"Well what can I say. Having gone to The Provincial with some work colleagues of mine, we were set for a nice night enjoying some very traditional dishes. However, upon ordering our food, two of us received out tapas orders and began eating. About 40 minutes after, having finished the tapas, other people's food slowly started to come out, except for a couple. We were then approached by the waiter which told us that there was no more steak available so two people clearly had to go hungry!! when the owner was approached by a Spanish colleague of mine, the two began going back and forth and the owner stated there was no complaint book, that nothing will be given for free (which we did not...read more"

Hands down my favourite place in Brixton. Amid the polished yuppieness of Brixton Village is this straight forward BYO restaurant serving bumper portions of top quality dishes. Am confident everything on the menu is decent (don't let my shoddy pictures be an indication of taste) though the sea food plate (glorious chips) the Perivian rice dish stand out. Ace all round.

Awful Fake deals. I went there with my partner because of a deal that they had. 6 tapas and a litre of sangria £35. Then, they told us that they don't have sangria and that they can give us one glass of wine instead. The worst part though is that 5 minutes later, when the party next to us ordered, they suddenly had some. Poor explanations and bad food followed. Don't go to this place!

Fine dining at good prices and in informal athmosphere.. Don't understand the other reviews, went there for dinner and breakfast. Had an absolutely delicious lamb in coriander sauce and the Provincial breakfast with amazing bread and serrano ham. Food arrived relatively quickly (waited each time less than 20min) and service was informal but good. And the best thing is the bill, for the quality you get it's dead cheap and there's always place so quite a bit of a secret tip. Ver carta

I've been dining at the provincial several times and it's never to impress. the service can sometimes be a little slow, but the decor is relaxed and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. the prices are reasonable and the portions generous, and all I have tried was a hit, especially the ceviche, ripen and chicken stew. While I was a bit skeptical at our first visit, I was quickly convinced after I had taken up the food and tried. in any case a popular place in brixton and worth a visit if they are in the opposite.

What initially caught my attention about this place was the cozy decor and the cute beauty seated at one of table eating and reading a book. Now why that wasn't enough to hook me once I read the menu I was truly intrigued. And guess what...I'm so glad I followed my intuition about place, not only was the food delicious but the owner extremely helpful and pleasant. He suggested a stewed chicken dish for my mother and fish for me after taking our preferences and promised both would be free of charge if we didn't like. Now that's confidence in ya cooking for you. Boy was he spot on, both were excellent!!! I also had 2 glasses of Sangria, which were delicious and deceivingly...read more

This awesome little restaurant is probably my favourite find in Brixton Village. The owner is super smiley and friendly, and the food is brilliant and reasonably priced I've now been twice, and will be back as soon as I can. With a huge array of tapas and mains (and a tantalizing special of £36 for 6 tapas and a litre of sangria), you can eat for days and not cover the entire menu. Here's a review of the dishes I've tried, starting with my favourites 1. The ribeye: excellently cooked, tender, juicy and slathered in flavourful provencal sauce and at only £12 for a massive portion(with golden fries andsalad to boot 2. The aubergine and nuts tapas rich and wholesome. Order a...read more Ver carta

It's always packed in Brixton Market and you generally have to queue at the weekend then wait a while to eat or drink anything not a problem, there's a great atmosphere but not ideal after working late and being starving to the point of angry. Enter the Provincial It had a great looking menu, and empty seats! It also had a 6 tapas and jug of sangria for £35 well why not Winey chorizo, big tomato-saucey meatballs and creamy goat's cheese croquettes were delightful, grilled veg in basil oil were overcooked and swimming in the oil, and sweet potato and groat's cheese gratin was not so much gratin, more shrivelled chips with a bit of goat's cheese chucked on top. Garlicky prawns...read more

My wife had been here before and really enjoyed it so we decided to give it a go. We arrived quite early. Even so the interior was full bar one table which we bagged. There was a good selection of Tapas which were mainly Spanish and main courses were South American. We shared the chorizo in wine, ham croquettes and the cod fish cakes in a ginger sauce. All were good although the outside of the fish cakes were a tad leathery For mains I had lamb in coriander with chips and salad. The lamb was wonderful and the chips the best I have eaten in years large and crisp and golden. My wife had the pork belly with rice which was (almost) as good. My youngest daughter had the pulled pork which...read m...
