"we come quite a lot whether it's for a drink or something to eat, but we decided to have a surprise 60. for my mammut all the employees knew that it was an surprise to keep and helped us with everything we needed, it was so easy I knew then enough for all their help especially in the night they were as enthusiastic as we were. the buffet food we have chosen was an excellent quality it cannot fail! the whole night I had come people and even the next day the people said that the buffet was a nice spread, even today in sure that the people still talk about the sandwichs and although in the night when we needed everything that it was just sorted! amazing service from an amazing team of workers who would bend over backwards for us, so deffo would keep the diets for a party again!"

Really nice venue (tipi). Price of drinks wasn't too bad. I was at a party so only picky food so not sure what an actual meal would be like x

Love this place. Upbeat vibe, excellent food, good kids park and lovely outdoor seating area. Great selection of drinks/craft ales. Interiors are gorgeous too!

A good pub in a good spot. Much larger inside than it looks with a large beer garden. Had a lot of staff on for the sunny bank holiday, it was full inside and out but not crowded, definitely a place to try with the usual pub menu if you're hungry.

I was recommended to try the runhead from a neighbour and he certainly lived up to the expectations. the playground of the child is practical for the little ones. the friendly staff takes care of them, even the manager (james? really tried, everything was in order and we had a real place for our meal. eating is the sky on a teller and you can get two bottle brown ales for £6.50, which is enormously worth. thanks for the experience, we are back soon!

I have just finished destroying my meat tabolism. It’s buggered noo after that borga! Pork Arms Marie (an authority on meat based matters) only went and smashed a steak and ale pie OFF her massive face, she’s had between 5 7 pies (6) in her life and this by far had the upper hand that is to say it is the best. Meat based staff were courteous, and knowledgeable on various meats. Sausage Susan was particularly helpful. This evening, at The Runheed, Ryton, our require meats were totally meated. Cheers guys. One love.

"Usually good food up until a month ago. Two repeated events of poor cold food. Several weeks ago freezing cold sub standard food, surf and turf, told usual chef not in, gave them the benefit of the doubt as we like the venue, paid bill in full, ignored it. Just revisited, ordered two Chateaubriand for 4 persons, they had none in stock, so then they offered fillet instead. Came freezing cold, sliced into cold strip steak for some crazy reason like you'd put it in a wrap or something, utter rubbish, it was like cold rump not fillet worth £110. Asked to speak to owner or get owner to call me. Kirsty waitress really rude, refused to take number and denied the food was cold, apparently mediocre cold food is okay. Really rude, substandard food. This place has gone down hill, certainly the food and staff don't match the nice venue. If you like substandard food and rude staff look no further! Well done Kirsty, great service. Walked out, didn't eat it. Seriously, credit where it's due, used to be good food decent atmosphere, now though, two bad meals and now rude staff. What a shame. Owner: Kirsty refused to take my number, you interested in responding or talking to me? I like your venue but you are taking a bad turn, two bad meals and rude staff refusing to test food for themselves or touch the food for temperature, and denying there was cold food, seriously? Chef refused to accept it was cold and waitress passing on equally rude behavioural approach. Accept your food has gone mediocre pub at best, certainly not restaurant standard, get a new chef and some nice polite staff with decent customer service. Only then will we return for food. I fear I waste my breath here?"

"Building decor is beautiful And staff look very professional. We were seated and given menus, then we felt like we had been forgotton about. It wasn’t too busy either. We managed to place our orders, but we were very unhappy to be immediately asked if we were to pay then or after. I have never known to be asked this quick before. Maybe so if it was a takeout option, but we were sitting in. Following on from this, we chose to pay then, but later when we left staff member ran to us across the courtyard asking if we had paid for a cake we asked to be taken away (which we did! . Although she was polite in asking we did feel a bit like we was being accused of stealing a slice of cake, when surely the bill evidently left on the table would show we had paid, and communication with staff would also proove this? We actually visited apley farm to see the animals and petting zoo. We asked staff about it and it was barked to us that ‘the animals aren’t here anymore ’ with no further information. I had to ask her as she was walking away what she meant, as this was the reason we arrived. After a quick google and Facebook search we found information about a lease ending or something. There is always 2 sides to a story but we think this is a absolute crying shame that it has closed down and had taken so much away from the area. On a positive note, the chocolate buttercream on the chocolate cake is the nicest I have ever tasted- absolutly to die for ! If I’m honest, due to staff treatment re payment of cake, and animals no longer in situ, I doubt we will be in a hurry to return."
