"We booked a table with our son to celebrate him going off to university and to round off the end of a very pleasant holiday. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table after perusing the menu. The first course arrived quickly and was delicious, the main course quickly followed and again all meals were very nice. My son had the controversial lobster salad and pronounced it delicious. The restaurant was beginning to now get quite busy but the staff serving were efficient in bringing the dessert menu unfortunately that's were the service went down hill. Though the staff were very busy I eventually had to ask the waitress to take our desert order after 20mins. She was very apologetic a quickly took our orders. My son had fancied to chocolate fondant but as it was a 20min wait for it, decided against it having already had timely wait for our order to be taken, The desserts arrived after nearly 25mins (he might as well have gone for it after that wait and was disappointed in his chocolate brownie sundae and described it as distinctly average).After having dined in this restaurant before, I was very disappointed in the service we received this time around/The food its self was lovely but pricey and II'm sorry but if I'm paying good money I want good service as well as good food!"

"The food was simply outstanding. It was beautifully presented and made with care from fresh ingredients. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The value for money was excellent, especially given the high quality of the dishes. While the restaurant was a bit quiet during our visit, that was likely because we dined late and it was off-season. I can imagine it has a lively atmosphere when it's busier. The decor is tastefully done in a stylish, rustic Yorkshire style. I highly recommend it, and we might consider staying there the next time we're in the area. As for vegetarian options, the Wild Mushroom tart was incredibly delicious, and there are a few other vegetarian choices on the menu as well."

"Lovely meal from start to finish! The members of staff were very friendly, we had a lovely chat with one of the ladies about food recommendations and local activities. We ordered: Cheese soufflé absolutely stunning Fillet steak beautifully cooked to our liking, seasoned well and accompanied by delicious chips and salad. I changed my chips for dauphinois. Creme brûlée absolutely gorgeous, lovely vanilla custard with the perfect caramelised top served with a homemade ginger biscuit. Can’t recommend this place enough, great food, wine and service!"

"We had a wonderful experience dining at the bistro for both dinner and lunch. The food was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. The customer service was top-notch, with friendly and professional staff. The Leyburn laser band was fantastic, as always, and the event was well organized with thoughtful touches. Overall, we highly recommend trying the well-crafted dishes and refreshing Tennants at this restaurant."

"A Saturday in mid March. A group of 6 of us had a look in for a drink and a bite of lunch. There were other customers in so there was a bit of atmosphere but it certainly didn’t seem overly busy. We got a seat, bought a beer, and perused the lunchtime menu. Then it got interesting there was much confusion between the bar and kitchen staff as to which items on the menu were available or not. Orders were placed and had to be changed when it became apparent they didn’t have to basic ingredients/foodstuffs to make them. When our “baguettes” arrived they were just bread buns. A beef and onion bun lacked onion. Similarly, pork and apple lacked apple. On speaking with staff they seemed particularly exasperated with things. They explained that the landlady had recently opened a cafe 4 doors up and rather than being organised and order foodstuffs for the cafe, she was merely raiding the kitchens at this pub leaving the stock depleted and not communicating this fact. This situation was not the fault of the kitchen or bar staff who seemed frustrated at it all. The place was just badly managed, had an air of chaos, and produced “baguettes” that weren’t and were missing items. Seems that the landlady should start running the place properly. Her staff certainly weren’t impressed!! Oh, and the ‘inspirational’ and ‘funny’ quotes written on the walls with thick black marker pen (with bad grammar) are just naff! Would we recommend the place. Nope. Would we go back again. Nope."
