"We stayed in a local cottage to the Ship we ate at the pub twice and had fabulous meals with them. Great produce and excellent value for money More importantly we had a great welcome on the four occasions we ventured in for a well deserved pint of great ale after a dog walk. Our dog Skyla was also made more than welcome on every occasion. We felt like regulars after only a few minutes. Will made us so welcome and we enjoyed our Halloween there where we helped welcome in the local trick or treaters. Excellent choice of beer and all made on site we enjoyed trying to name the new beer that we brewed whilst we were there."

We ate here tonight. Fabulous food and beer with the friendliest welcome we have had in ages in a restaurant or pub. Dog friendly too and we will be back soon, not least because the dog will make us go back!

Had a pint and a cider. Local ale Greenood brewery very nice ,when in Rome. And met a lovely chap called Jim and when a I say chap he was actually a dog. Sat with me on the couch in front of log burner. Much easier to handle than the old bird.

Home of the Greenodd brewery so my first taste of their beer. Excellent real ale. Fantastic village pub a short distance off the main road. Loved the beer. Great atmosphere. Very good pub food. Lovely fire. Small car park but plenty of on street parking. Well worth visiting.

Warm welcome from the start, really nice pub with a great selection ales and a good menu for the food. All meals were freshly prepared and very tasty, kids had a small fish and chips, myself the pork belly and my wife had the steak and Guiness pie. Nice open fire to sit by before your meal.

such an amazing experience. came here after a day in the lakes with 2 dogs, received a cordial greeting and the dogs got kekse (even after a bit of barky suffering! . the Barman/Waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful. eating was great, good value, and the menu was well joined together. dessert was all homemade including the ice cream that was incredible! they even brewed their own beer! You can't go wrong here.

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
