"I enjoyed my visit to this charming countryside pub. The Sunday dinner I had was good, but I felt that the portion of vegetables was a bit lacking. Personally, I prefer my roasted vegetables to be cooked for longer to bring out their sweetness, instead of tasting the full carrot and parsnip flavors. The staff were very attentive and made our experience enjoyable. Overall, I would definitely return to this restaurant. In my opinion, if they improved their mashed potatoes and added more greens to their Sunday dinner, it would easily be a 5-star meal."

What a lovely pub! This is a real gem, a genuine pub that is not part of a chain. The food, service, and atmosphere all deserve a perfect score of 5.

We recently had one of the best meals we've had in a long time at this restaurant. The price per person ranges from £20 to £30. The food, service, and atmosphere all scored a perfect 5 out of 5. Ver carta

This traditional local village pub has a beautiful, secluded garden. The food quality had declined in the past but it has since improved and is now delicious. The pub also offers a great variety of cask beers.

I was looking for somewhere to eat on the way back to Ashbourne Heights Holiday Park in Matlock and stumbled upon this lovely restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

"In the beginning, God created many things from Monday to Saturday and on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. Or did he? No. No he didn’t. On the seventh day God created Bennys. This biblical reference does not do justice to just how divine a Bennys is. It is a kebab/pizza/fast food shop steeped in glory and mystery. Some scholars have actually considered Bennys as the final resting place of both the ark of the covenant and the Lance of the Longinus. If Dan Brown has written another book, I have no doubt Bennys would have featured because the food is so good. I have been to Bennys three times a holy trinity of visits. Each time I have opted for a seminal chicken kebab. The chicken has been fresh and plump and proper (a bird sacrificed for the grace of our plates). The spices have oozed with flavour, cleansing my very soul. The pitta has been strong and resolute in its carrying of the other constituent items of perfection. The salad has been clean, cutting through the spice, to reclaim the innocence of my tastebuds for another spiritual bite. The hot sauce has teased my palate (and my perineum) with a fiery wet heat of a culinary miracle. The chips have been a hybrid of soft and crispy, like a kettle chip which has had an illegitimate child with a cloud. And the garlic mayonnaise, oh yes the garlic mayonnaise, embodies the fulcrum of the holy trinity of God. I believe in a church. The church of Bennys. It is wholesome, it is great, it guides me to the green pastures of hope, away from the barren epoch of servitude you get with other late night food venues. Benny was the 13th apostle and he founded his church here in Ashbourne. I once saw a drunk 19 year old get hit by a 2013 Renault Twingo outside of Bennys. Was he hurt? Was he maimed? No, a beam of alabaster white light transcending mind and soul came out of Bennys as it happened. He walked again. It’s not my place to say, but if that accident had happened anywhere else, I don’t think he would have lived. To me, Bennys is more than a kebab shop. Maj and the boys run one hell of an establishment. Just like Derbyshire was home to the Arkwright mills and the birthplace of the industrial revolution, it is home to Bennys my church. While the Arkwright Mills had consequences for the direction of mankind, so too, to a far greater extent, does Bennys. Fun fact: just down the road from Ashbourne is Belper where Timothy Dalton grew up."
