"We live in Lindfield and have been to the restaurant many times, usually the experience is 7/10. The food is usually very good , the service also good, as you would expect for a restaurant charging a top end price by local standards). Tonight changed that. The service was chaotic too few staff) . We had a table of 8 and main courses were spread sporadically. I was left with the remaining dish, which bore no resemblance to what I ordered. The waitress who brought the meal, but did not take the order, on 5 occasions told me I was wrong, despite at least 3 of the table wondering if they had the right dish. Mine was tasteless, and eventually, and reluctantly, they agreed to change it. 10 minutes later a replacement dish arrived. I ordered mine with chilli. As though to teach me not to complain and inedibly chilli hot arrived I eat vindaloo). At which point I left my card and departed. No words exchanged. I don’t blame the inexperienced person serving. The owner hides in the corner staring at his laptop the entire evening. Always has done. At no time did he decide to speak with me and resolve any issue. We certainly won’t be returning"

"we have booked to stay in the crown inn while we were close to the bluebell line. we came hours before check-in because of easier than expected traffic on but before that was even open inn...landlord was out and offered us to come in. we had a few things to do, so decided that we would come back when they were open when we arrived again (yet hrs before check-in) we were greeted and shown in our room. After we settled in the city, we went down to drink a drink before we went down for the railway. the renter, the renter and the staff were all very friendly as the local moats. we had a laugh before we screamed. on our return we were re-entered into the cash that was now a little more business with local customers, but again we were followed attentively. our room (number was perfect with a four poster bed and en-suite . many other facilities for tee, coffee etc. only a slight groschen over the room was the temperature in the evening cold, but in the night it was roasted (we could turn off the heat sink, but not upward). in the morning we have the choice to have breakfast. I had full English and my wife had the vegetarian option. both were fantastic! I would recommend to anyone who went into the opposite for the steam train or another ground to check the crown inn. they will not regret it thanks to the renter, the renter and the staff kew and lyn"

"I visited here yesterday evening to have a meal with my family. The welcome was very pleasant however from there it went downhill. The drinks were fine however the food was quite tasteless. We had starter’s of Leek Potato soup, which although hot, was quite bland, we also had the Chicken Liver Pate, although the portion size was good, again this was very bland, also the bread which came with it was very ordinary. The other two starters were Garlic Bread… which were just that; Garlic Bread. For main course we had the Salmon, which you really had to try hard to find any positives about, and three lots of Fish Chunky Chips, all of which were visibly over cooked, the batter was nearly brown, and the fish was quite tough! The chips were ok, mushy peas were just mushy and tartar sauce was rather solid! Also where we sat was rather drafty. We did not order a desert or coffee as we did not want to prolong the agony. One positive; the atmosphere was pleasant. Clearly the food is just bought in and heated through, I can’t imagine than any of it was cooked or made fresh. I won’t be going back."

"What a great Italian Restaurant in the heart of the village of Lindfield. The staff very attentive and knowledgeable of all the dishes. Great atmosphere and with Halloween soon, the decorations very spooky, perfect for a party. We ordered Gnocchi Pesto Pasta Bolognaise, brilliant and exceptional! To accompany the meal a tasty salad with black olives. Well worth a visit and going back soon Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian selection Service: Take out"

"The food here is delicious, I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere at nighttime is absolutely buzzing and feels so inviting. As far as the hotel goes, I really liked our room. It was spacious and had a cozy and homely feel to it. I believe it was room 115. The one bad thing is that the room is not insulated from the summer heat. The roof above absorbs every bit of warmth from the sun throughout the day, and it was like being in an airfryer when we went to bed. It was so hot that I actually could not fall asleep. The small fan in the room unfortunately does nothing. Otherwise a nice stay with a nice breakfast as well. Also No wifi in that room:"
