"We stayed at the Stag at Stow for a weekend in September. A family get away for my stepdads 70th birthday. We had 4 rooms, all with their own unique style. They were cosy, clean and cute. And gorgeously designed. The hotel itself was lovely and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The location of the hotel is perfect for wondering around Stow. We also dined in the restaurant on the Saturday evening...and the menu choice was excellent and everyone commented how tasty the food was. I'd highly recommend booking this hotel for a stay in the Cotswolds. I'd love to return for a visit in the future. Plus, my dog Stanley loved it too...dogs are very well catered for."

We had an amazing pub lunch after a long hike. The steak and ale pie meant for two was a standout dish.

Exceptional experience! The ambiance and aesthetic are delightful, and the prices are very reasonable. I can't wait to try lunch and dinner on my next visit, but breakfast was fantastic. One small note: it would have been helpful if they informed us that they couldn't provide us with keys after 10 PM, as we managed to arrive just before they closed for the night. Overall, I would rate it: Rooms: 5, Service: 5, Location: 5. Hotel highlights: Romantic and great value.

We had a wonderful time during our recent visit. The staff were fantastic—whoever handled the hiring did an excellent job, as everyone was incredibly friendly and efficient. The food was outstanding; the chef is definitely a keeper! We booked four rooms, all of which were tastefully decorated and well-equipped. The Stag is quite old, so be prepared for some uneven stairways and room sizes that reflect the building's age—think cozy rather than spacious! Overall, we give the rooms a solid 5 out of 5.

"We had one of the most delicious dining experiences we have ever enjoyed. The chef, Charles Smith, is truly a cuisine genius. Everyone of the courses in the tasting menu was a trbute to his creativity and subtle mixture of ingredients. We could not believe his sophistication at the age of 29 and we wish him a wonderful future career. Separately I’d like to address the initial welcome and bar experience which was not pleasant. When you enter the front door there is no apparent reception area; there is no one to greet or guide you. No one asked for our name or what kind of dinner reservation we had made. We stumbled around a few narrow hallways guided by sounds of conversation until we found the bar. The solo bartender was harried and overwhelmed and bar seating area completely filled. We were told to walk down the hall to another lounge where we enjoyed our cocktails. This was shared with another couple who were dressed in sloppy jeans and tshirts while we were attired in jackets for the men and dresses for the ladies. This initial lack of welcome and hospitality typified both times we have eaten at LOM in 2017 and 2019. We would recommend that the 2 different dining experiences be separated physically from the beginning of the evening starting with the greeting, bar drinks, and continuing through dinner. The disconnect in hospitality and service should be easily addressed and improved."
