"that was our second trip to the star inn the harbour, whitby and once again we were thrilled. I have resisted that I have the same appetizer as last time the rockpool of muscheln, which is perhaps the most beautiful thing at all, but was not disappointed by the potted confit that came with delicious soft fruits. fortunately john had the rockpool and I could try it again. our main thing of the lobster thermoidor, with wensleydale crust and petersilie maische (for me) and halibut with melted garnels and sea vegetables were sensational, especially with the sweet sides and the very naughty fries with parmesan and truffle. Astonishingly we managed to squeeze a dessert between us and the rhabarb, custard and eis with an advertising read, was a wonderful end to a sensational meal. the pinot noir of andrew perns special selection went well with everything. the service was excellent and one of the waiting coworkers surprised us by remembering two weeks ago my starter. we booked our next visit before we left and we are so happy that this new child is already well established on the Whitby block."

They don't serve food but your standard pub, decent music, rock so I survived.

Excellent pub. I had the best pint in Whitby (Oakham Citra) and the bartender was very friendly. They also have free pool and a Duke box.

Excellent pint of Ossett White Rat, perfectly maintained. Thursday club offers a free jukebox and free pool - what more could you ask for?

Called in at 10.45pm on a Saturday night to a welcome of we are closing in a bit. Asked for spirits but limited choice. No ice available and pub not the cleanest. Poor atmosphere and felt they just wanted us out. Zero stars for the Star Inn.

Walked in whilst visiting whitby for the day , found a table for me my husband and dog, when I walked up to the bar the staff member already had a fresh bowl of water and a couple of treats for our dog, such a lovely touch, and really appreciated it. Recommended this place for its friendliness

We had a really good drink in here, chatting with locals and the barman was really just a nice guy! A decent pint on draught, with a good atmosphere. Helpful and friendly, the barman helped us with our next destination and had a good laugh with the very drunk Scotsman at the bar… a good experience!!
