"the price was about what they expect to pay for a three cure meal in each uplifted pub, but eating and the atmosphere was fine eating. the waiting staff was very professional and timely. we didn't have to wait long for something. to begin, I have the butternut quash soup that was divine. I only wish the waiter had either left the soot court there or spent a second more with leaving all these good. the hake I had for the first was served with comminuted new kartoffels, seasonal greens and muddles in a seetang beurre blanc sauce. my man had smoke chalk bachforelle to start and roasted hampshire pork with the most delicious crack. they provided home foam water and free bread and butter during our meal. we have finished dessert with a carmelized pear and a dark chocolate creamux. extras were quite a pricy espresso martini at but it was very nice and came garnished and a cappuccino. if there were any parking possibilities. it was completely packed on the top, but we managed to press in front. highly recommended and worthy of a Michelin star."

I tried to get drinks at the bar before dinner and the bartender was quite abrupt, as it was obviously overwhelmed because of personal shortage. we made the four cursor menu. I had the vegetarian dishes. the food tasted nice, but the portions were...tiny! could have done with a little more eating.

My friend and I were staying at their sister hotel Carey’s and came over for dinner. I was really impressed with the food and thought that the four course menu was good value. A particular call out for the great staff. We had a great...guy serving us, I didn’t get his name but he was from Hungary and great fun to talk to as well as a very professional service as well as a young guy who brought our courses out and he spoke with such enthusiasm about each of the courses.

Proper occasion dining! So pleased to see tables dressed and set with quality glassware, cutlery etc as it used to be pre-covid. It set the scene for a celebratory meal celebrating our anniversary. Confess I am a bit of a cynic about the trend towards...visually appealing food in tiny portions... BUT! given the set price was for not but courses, each delicious, by the end of dessert we felt replete. The bbq monkfish and belly pork were fantastic. Service from mostly young staff was perfect, attentive but not overbearing and done with charm and a sense of humour. Well done all! Can't wait for our next experience at the Terrace.

Do not even bother to go here. I had a table booked since May this year for a meal in September, as soon as we walked through the front we waited a while for someone to even greet us to then be told before we...even entered the restaurant that they are short staffed and service will be slow as there is only one chef in the kitchen, the waiter then just pointed to our table and said it’s in the middle over there, obviously this is not what you expect for this type of restaurant. We then sat down and another waiter came over to us and said the same thing about being short staffed and that we will have to wait a while for food, when you’re expecting to pay for a meal this is not the service you...

Booked for dinner and location and ambience is superb. I knew this restaurant once had a Michelin star and is striving get it back.so hopefully, they can take this as constructive.it is not there yet I am afraid. course menu for we chose....The food was OK, the fish delicious, the main course of slow cooked pork belly wasn't bad. In fact over all the food was OK but the portions are miniscule considering the prices. For this money I would expect at least to get a couple of mouthfulls out of a course. We also had the wine flight which was a bit hit and miss I am afraid. Having eaten in Michelin restaurants and Michelin plate restaurants, they are not there yet. Either they drop the prices for...

"My Wife and I don't travel so well these days but decided to go a little further afield from our usual Highcliffe and Christchurch haunts we live in Mudeford. We went twice in point of fact. The first visit was the 21st June when My wife and I had a quiet Birthday celebration lunch prior to the Family celebration later in the day. It was excellent. We only had the Mains and despite it being busy and not having booked we were served promptly and cheerfully with a round of drinks. My Wife had Chicken Pie and I had Liver and Bacon. Both were excellent and my Wifes vegetables were freshly done. I don't have vegetables. We liked it so much we went back three days later to celebrate our youngest Daughters birthday and again had lunch before the Family celebration later in the day. The meal was as fabulous as three days prior. My Wife had a Chicken Roast, our Daughter had Beef Roast and I had an amazingly well filled Steak and Merlot Pie of the Week. As before the vegetables were freshly done. Unusually for us we also had puddings (Lemon Meringue, Bailey's Cheescake and Apple Tart with Custard. All were excellent. All washed down with Tea and a Latte the former being served in nicely twee Teapots. Total cost £80 for the three of us on the second visit. Worth every penny. All in all First Class and couldn't fault it. Disabled parking nicely located in the front with ample parking for those more mobile at the side and back. Just a note for History buffs. The main building was built in 1853 by John Harrison(? a Carpenter thus the name Carpenters Arms."
