The Trading Rooms - Carta

The setting is lovely but the food wasn’t enjoyable. £11 for a sandwich is a lot to pay when it’s not enjoyable. Fries were soggy, ham hock tasted strange and fish goujons were undercooked.

We went to The Trading Rooms on Saturday night in a large group and we all had a meal. We had preordered and all the food was very well prepared and presented. All was delicious.service was also very good. Set in the beautiful Piece Hall it is well worth a visit

Called for drinks, slow service. Portion of chips. Lovely setting and great outdoor space with warm heater. Ordered a portion of chips for nibbles, whilst serving half our chips dropped to the floor and nothing was compensated or really done about this. Charged fully for this too! Ver carta

Never tried here before. I ordered crispy belly pork, nothing crisp about it, everything was stone cold. Sent it back, they brought another out, had obviously plated it up and shoved it in the oven on full for 5 minutes as everything had caught especially the blackened Yorkshire pud. Rosemary in absolutely everything yuk!! Won’t be recommending.

Despite the rain, we had such a warm welcome from all the waitresses. Lily and Darcey were lovely and went to great lengths to accommodate us, as we had dogs in tow. Nothing was too much trouble. It's a great venue with the historic backdrop, and the food was delicious. An impressive menu, well executed. Started off great. We arrived at 7pm, the starters and first bottle of wine arrived within 30 mins, but then we waited 2 hours for the next bottle and main course. We had to ask twice for the wine, then 2 main courses were cold and 1 was overcooked and dried out. No apologies, they just said they were busy when we expressed our concerns. The final straw was that they added an extra bottle of wine to the bill.. they were shockingly unconcerned about their substandard service. Ver carta

Poor to at best average today. Had some good meals here in the past but this wasn’t good. Had the cassoulet the braised ox cheek part of it was good but the cassoulet was a stew of carrots and around six white beans. Not what I’d expected at all. Wine’s overpriced by about a fiver a bottle. Just had a glass as it was so expensive. Would have had a bottle if it’d been closer to £20 and not £30. They los5 our booking via Togo too and were made to feel lucky they could squeeze us in. Need to up their gam.

Visited a few times, mainly for coffee and cake or drinks but recently for a Sunday lunch. I like the trading rooms for its opulence. It’s just such a nice place to sit. The cakes are amazing which helps! My husband and I recently had a Sunday dinner. Wow! The best Sunday dinner I’ve ever eaten. I’m always sceptical when eating out nowadays as it’s expensive as often disappointing. We cannot wait to return. The potion was huge and the cocktails were good too. The staff team there seem very happy and helpful, from the serving staff to the kitchen staff. Sad I can only give this visit 5 stars it deserves 6. Today was particularly busy in the Piece Hall so when we turned up at the door requesting an outdoor table instead of being met with some snotty kid we were greeted and welcomed by two young ladies whom could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Within minutes an outside space (one of the amazing pods was secured for us. Amber was our waitress and she could not have done better with the fine art of being attentive but without being overbearing.
