"Had not visited for a while but excellent food. Seated quickly by a very pleasant young lady, drinks order taken and quickly served. The special' pan fried sea bream looked very appetizing and substantial portion....daughter scoffed the lot; my wife had the half lobster which...she said was very good and tasty and I had the fish and chips...always a good test....batter very good (perhaps fish portion could have been larger) but good and hot with chips and good tartare sauce. All three of us no need to cook an evening meal. Friendly and pleasant staff who were attentive asking during the meal if everything OK and thanked us for coming when bill time came. Not the cheapest pub around but great value for money....which is what you want. We shall return Try it out for yourself if you live in the Henley, Sonning Common area and support a good pub."

We are so lucky to have such a friendly family run pub as our local and to top it all the food that is served is absolutely top quality. Soft crab starter with talbot wrapped in lardo with fennel and fennel croquette potatoes, delicious

Tried telephoning three times on a Saturday morning to make a booking for lunch. No reply, no voicemail. Pitched up anyway just before PM and was told (not in a friendly way) no availability for lunch unless we had made a booking. No hint...of an apology . And so we left, never to return.

This week I had tempura prawns, steak, and then treacle tart, all of which were spectacular. This is no surprise as the food has been excellent since the management changed a couple of years ago. Luckily for us COVID doesn't appear to have dented their...determination to be the best foodie' restaurant around. Would highly recommend every time please keep it up guys.

I feel compelled to leave a review for the team and product just received from The Unicorn. I’ve been rarely treated to such wonderful service and fantastic food as we just had. Thank you for re-affirming my belief that friendly, extremely competent service and superb...food is still to be had in a local pub environment here in the UK. A return visit with a larger gathering will most certainly be booked soon. ‘till then, Richard.

We visited for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely delightful! Honestly the best Sunday roast I’ve had in a long time and the cheesecake was delicious too. Very reasonably priced as well, Sirloin beef roastie with all the trimmings for The service was also...fantastic, quick, and easy. We arrived at and by we had our roasties! Really friendly, kind staff as well. I couldn't rate the place enough. We will be going back for roasties and more food!

Back again to welcoming staff, quickly seated and drinks order taken; food ordered fish and chips and carved duck breast. Both came in a timely fashion duck pink on a bed of salad....could have been hotter; fish and chips very good again. As a treat...both had puddings, sticky toffee pudding and treacle tart both served with homemade ice cream...excellent Lots of smiley faces and enquired if meal alright Well worth a visit (put a door closer on door to front of building as it slams every time someone enters or leaves)

First weekend after a four-month lockdown the restaurant's outdoor area was packed with happy people. Despite this, service was excellent throughout. It was a very cold evening and I did put my coat on after a while, but there were several heaters doing a...great job. As a wimp who feels the cold a lot I was absolutely fine. We were told that the food might take a little longer than usual, and we were given the most delicious amuse bouche' while waiting In fact the food didn't take very long and it was up to the usual high standards, beautifully presented you see dishes sailing past to other tables and think I want that too My starter the popcorn falafel' was exceptional in terms of taste an...

"We usually love coming to Cafe Rouge in Henley, always a treat for us and we are always looking forward to it. However the most recent visit was awful and it’s been going downhill over our last coupes of visits. We booked a table for my father in laws birthday. Upon being seated, we were informed that 3 of the main course dishes were unavailable.. pretty much half of the ‘mains’ options. We don’t come to Cafe Rouge for Burgers or salad! We opted for 3 portions of Mussels as had them here before and they’re very good! Mother in law just had pate as there was nothing else she wanted. These were possibly the worst mussels we’ve ever had. You could tell they weren’t fresh (cooked from frozen for sure) and there was barely any sauce in the pot! Usually they are flavourful and abundant in sauce! No check back was performed by the manager on duty..it was a quiet Monday so wasn’t exactly run off his feet. So we couldn’t alert him. Even upon clearing we weren’t ask how our meal was! Just asked if we had finished. We decided to mention they were awful to which the manager told us he would inform the kitchen. When he came back to finish clearing, my partner asked if they were frozen or fresh mussels, to which the manager replied yes, they are frozen. Wasn’t expecting that but you could totally tell! They tasted like cardboard! We had a coffee and a pudding and to be fair to the manager he didn’t charge us for one portion of mussels and the coffees we ordered. The Bill was certainly not worth what we had. Didn’t leave a tip, which we never normally do, but the service was non existent. Manager was more interested in what was on his phone. Won’t be rushing back"
