The Whippet Inn - Carta

Absolutely brilliant, we had a super time here for a Birthday meal. We could not fault the service and the food was amazing. We would highly recommend the Fillet steak.

Thanks to Pipa who got us a table at short notice and thank goodness as the food was amaze balls, pardon peppers followed by ribeye and fillet steak was brilliant, well done chief !!!!

Nice to have a steak out that I didn't think I could have done much better myself at home for a change. Good atmosphere, service, drinks and desserts. Need to add chimichurri to the sauces. Ver carta

The food was great the beer excellent especially the vanilla porter. The service was attentive and quick. It was a great find straight across the road from our hotel.We will return when next we visit York

Wonderful place with some very interesting wallpaper! My partner and I went here for dinner, the steaks were great and the staff were able to recommend a lovely bottle of wine. A really great restaurant and dog friendly.

We had booked a dog friendly area here. Worth booking as it seemed very busy. Staff were fantastic, food was lovely. I had a steak it was so good. Highly recommend eating here. Lovely wine also. Would definitely go back. Great 80's music and a few themed bits behind the bar. Ver carta

Went on Friday for an early dinner, had a fabulous meal struggled with what to order as a starter as nothing appealed to us, however we just went with nibbles instead of olives and deep fried gerkins which were delicious. 2 fillets steaks with whiskey and mushroom sauce and to finish a delicious banana cake dessert. Thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish

Super Steak!. We decided to try here after hearing good things about it and I also love the fact they use local Yorkshire produce. We dropped in one lunchtime through the week, it was pretty quiet, but that didn’t detract from our experience and preferable to a packed high street chain elsewhere in the city centre. I had the 40 day aged fillet steak (rare and it was simply amazing, up there with the best steaks I have had anywhere in the world, the accompanying chips were ‘proper chips’ too! Both meals were excellent, so good in fact we went again before we returned to Australia (I had the fillet steak again!

Very friendly staff nice decor. The food is nice maybe a bit pricey, the Desserts are very nice. I have two niggles the staff seem to be on a hard sell we were asked 3 times if we wanted water, and even after getting our drinks we were asked 3 times if we were having red wine, the last attempt was if you don't want red wine I will take the glasses away. The other is the 12.5% service charge is automatically added which you can have removed the staff are polite but quite vocal asking if you want it removed, feels like a bit of a guilt trip. It is a nice place with decent food but there are plenty of other places doing better without the hard sell. Ver carta
