"We used to come here often before it closed and we have been waiting to try it again and we weren't disappointed. The service was excellent. The food was faultless. I had the beer battered prawns for starters which had a really crispy batter and the prawns were soft, not hard like some places. Then the pork belly which was beautiful. It is rolled and slow cooked with a rich gravy. My wife had the pork balls for starters which were in a really tasty mustard sauce. The beef suet pie was outstanding. I really could not fault what we had. Thank you to all the staff for making this a wonderful return to the White Horse. We will be back."

The pub is charming, but the food was disappointing. The belly pork was good, but the beef was chewy and the roast potatoes were very poor. There is so much potential here.

Excellent service, polite and friendly staff. Sunday lunch was slightly underwhelming, too much food, the gravy ran of the edges of the plate, and beef was a bit chewy. Less food and better quality would be great.

Excellent Offer on main courses available on Wednesdays until end of April. Good value, really nice food! Service was very polite and friendly with no rush between courses. Waitress appeared when required for drink or next courses etc. Will gladly visit again even after offer closes Ver carta

Have to say that we were attracted by the current 50% off ‘mains’. That meant we turned a 2 course meal in to a 3 course – at least for me. It was all good – service – just right with a personal touch; food – lovely being wholesome, tasty and nutritious; general ‘feeling’ – comfortable. I loved the peach crumble with plenty of custard – massive! Looking forward to a repeat.

We started with a generous portion of fat whitebait as a shared starter, followed by main courses of lambs liver and chicken supreme, both of which were delicious. The sauce accompanying the chicken supreme had a delightful hint of chorizo oil that worked wonderfully. The lambs liver was cooked to perfection, tender with a pink middle. I enjoyed a pint of good cask beer, while my wife had an inexpensive but refreshing New Zealand sauvignon blanc. Overall, we had a very enjoyable meal at the White Horse and would highly recommend it.

"This wasn’t our first visit (the previous occasion was more positive than this) but this was really quite poor. Problem after problem, service was poor and just not very welcoming. Firstly, drinks weren’t available issues with draft, but then bottles weren’t available either. So there was a very limited selection of drinks on offer and the staff weren’t proactive in advising what was available. So it was request and receive a no! Secondly, the food was poor. The starters were shocking. Really quite bad. There was a bit of redemption from some of the mains, but we elected to not proceed with anything else as it wasn’t great. We had to wait ages for drinks and foods to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty and many staff present. Frequently there were 3 staff at the back of the room standing about chatting, but they weren’t attentive to our needs. They didn’t check around the room to see if guests required additional drinks or require plates clearing. They didn’t check to see how the food was and when we complained regarding a starter they simply didn’t know how to handle it. When the draft beer came back on there was no proactive behaviour in returning to the table and letting us know so that more drinks could be ordered. Drinks were poured in wrong glasses, plates were cleared whilst people were still eating and then not cleared when they needed to be! Simply put the staff working had no idea on what table service should be perhaps they had received no training which is a major failing when the restaurant is part of a hotel. It was not welcoming. The restaurant was freezing cold. The service was really very poor and the food disappointing. They also don’t take dogs which in Aldeburgh is a bit weird. There is plenty of space and the tables are large so they would not be in the way. We won’t be returning."
