"having not been to the Woodmans for quite some time to eat, but many times to drink. Our “eating” experience was very disappointing from ordering the food to having it delivered to the table. The appearance alone followed by the flavour pallet was absolutely awful. To start the garlic bread was served on sourdough bread, the cheese overcooked and burnt because it was served on sourdough bread, the flavour pallet was totally an utterly incompatible with the “garlic bread” Now referring to the visual impact of the garlic bread, once placed upon the plate and delivered the table. It resembled something that my dog would excrete after a really rather large meal was totally utterly un pleasing to the eye smelt revolting. We now turn to the main course, my wife ordered Hunters chicken and again the visual impact on the plate was equally as bad as the garlic bread. It looked like something My daughter would’ve excreted in her nappy. When she was a baby the chicken breast was soggy. the bacon was overcooked burnt, the sauce was bitter and the oval appearance was absolutely disgusting. My wife had one mouthful and that was enough I had the gammon which because it was so dry and overcooked the chef had to soak smother it in maple syrup to give it a modicum of moisture, the texture and flavour, was utterly revolting. Upon requesting to speak to the Owner, who was in the bar making himself very obvious to other customers, also seeing the chef pop out looking in our direction, I then requested to the server that I may speak to the Owner or the chef to discuss these matters, but neither of them had the courage to come and speak to me in regards to the above matters I speak from a point of view of being the son of an Owner of a very successful pub for some 25 years, they didn’t have the courage of the convictions to come speak to a customer about the revolting disgusting food that they placed in front of us. Also to add insult to injury, they had the total and utter audacity to want to charge us for this revolting assault on our culinary and visual senses. The only plus point of the evening was the servicing staff, I can’t say that of the management they’re just cowardly, but the serving staff were utterly professional. Very kind, warm and welcoming."

Excellent Sunday carvery, with great friendly welcome. Cannot recommend this friendly little village pub highly enough. Good luck to the new manager- it’s a great start.

This was our first time visiting with the new owners, we had the carvery which was lovely, had everything you could want! The outside looks so much nicer now it’s been renovated too The midweek menu looks great so we’ll be returning to try!

Wow. Very pleased with last nights meal. We were expecting pub grub and received restaurant quality food. I went for the surf and turf which was exceptional and my wife’s fish and chips were better than most chip shops. Additionally the rooms there offer a great nights sleep

From the moment we walked into the restaurant I was greeted with Happy Birthday by a waitress to the service and the standard of of the food every aspect of the evening was excellent. Our party of 10 had a lovely time, thanks very much, i'm sure we will be returning very soon.

We had an amazing Family Dinner on a Saturday afternoon. 9 of us and two of those were children. Service couldn’t do enough for us . New owner was friendly. Wait staff were attentive. Food was freshly prepared (little wait as a result). Tasty, great portion sizes. Highly recommend.

Wow what a super pub restaurant First impressions on arrival superb Greeted my a lovely young lady served drinks by a nice young man tooooo Given menus also offered specials…. A great choice of delicious food Had a lovely afternoon and can’t wait to return when I’m visiting from Spain again x I strongly recommend anyone to try xxxx

Had lunch here, long wait for food service poor, when food did arrive in fits and starts overwhelmed with amount and could not cope. ordered large scampi and chips, no chips only five potato skins/wedges peas you could have used as bullets ten pieces of scampi overcooked. have had sunday carvery before and was very good. this was a complete reversal. never again for midweek.

Young enthusiastic team behind the bar and serving, but the menu is dull and boring after a few visits you will struggle to to choose, specials are ok but not anything really special and sometimes remain on the board for 2/3 weeks, pity there are no themed events especially around pay day weekends e.g end of month beginning of month. Could do with a review of main menu been the same for years, perhaps look at 4 menus so they change every 3 months, it’s just standard chili, lasagne, fish and chips, pie, burgers very old fashioned so it won’t draw in new trade for its food or help existing customers who want something a bit different.

We booked this place based upon its location , it was easy to find and we booked two rooms to stay in as a resting point for our journey . Considering its a pub with four rooms the check in experience and knowledge was amazing. The rooms were immaculate and warm , the first time I had been so since leaving my home far south of this. We had a table for six and did not feel the wait between courses was unduly long , it gave us time to digest , drink wine and catch up with old friends. We were not rushed to vacate our table in any way , the staff were absolutely fantastic In the morning a light breakfast was offered which we greatly appreciated and enjoyed.
