"This revue is purely about the restaurant as I only dined there. It is a beautifully laid out restaurant, well decorated with linen tablecloths, water jug etc. so first impressions are excellent. The friendliness of the staff compliments this, as does their efficient service. It was a Sunday so we had the traditional Sunday roast (two roast beef and one lamb shank), which matched our expectations, excellent. We had three different deserts, and not one disappointed. The only thing I could pick on, was the fact I felt there should have been more prawns in the prawn cocktail, but that's only because I couldn't fault anything else. Without doubt we will be returning again very soon. Mega plus, bring your own wine with no corkage charge. Also interesting to hear some of the restaurants background from Callum the hotel's general manager, like it when staff come up through the ranks. And if the chef gets to read this loved the Jus, way better than gravy. If you've never been go, as you won't be disappointed."

I've eaten here and the service and the food are always impeccable. Would definitely recommend.

Good evening. The food was extraordinary. The Porterhouse Steak was cooked exactly as we all wanted. The service was one of the best we had recently.

Nice food and service. Even my friend brought a cake with candle because they overheard it was his birthday. Friendly staff and really good atmosphere.

Tonight was the launch of the new winter menu and I booked in specifically to sample the lobster in garlic and herb butter with linguini in a lobster bisque. For those who avoid lobster due to its 'fiddliness ' in terms of cracking claws and picking...

We have been coming to this hotel/restaurant for the last 27 years. We have just visited again for a large family birthday celebration. The food and the service were both exceptional. Over the years, we have had numerous meals, a wedding, christenings and also a...

Very professional and thoughtful service as ever, and this time we had roast dinner from the set menu, which was lovely. Rest of family greatly enjoyed their puds I didn't have one. Ambience waiters seemed a bit rushed, as might be expected for Fathers' Day Sunday lunchtime, decor is odd and old fashioned but I like that is somehow reassuring, I'd much rather they invested in food and staff than fancy interiors.

Let me start with the positive. The greeting on arrival was excellent purly down to the enthusiastic male receptionist . The room was basic however apart from holes in some of the towels it was very clean. We booked expecting to be able to use the restaurant however on arrival told it wasn't open so had to find somewhere else to eat no mention the website of it being closed Breakfast was an absolute joke and with the offering of cereal, bread and cheese. Do not expect a cooked breakfast. The whole experience was one I hope to never come across again

The staff were absolutely lovely, especially the maitre d', who gave us a potted history of the venue and told us about the afternoon teas and other special deals. The food was beautifully prepared and stylishly presented, but the underlying quality of ingredients stopped our meals from tasting outstanding. The lamb was tasty and well received, but the pork and chicken both lacked flavour, like average supermarket meat cooked with great skill, certainly, but it made us feel the price tag was a bit too much. With better ingredients, the cost would have felt good value for the skill that had obviously gone into the prep. The smoking mushroom presentation was fun but my friend said the mushroom...

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."
