"We had a wonderful meal at the restaurant. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and offered a delightful gin and tonic to help us decide from the menu. We enjoyed a three-course Easter Sunday dinner, starting with excellent appetizers of cheese and mushrooms. For the main course, we had both beef and chicken, which were cooked to perfection, followed by delicious desserts to finish off the meal. The wine selection was equally impressive. The service and atmosphere contributed to an overall fantastic dining experience. We will definitely be coming back!"

"I agree with the other comments regarding the customer service, it was very slow and the staff weren’t very attentive. The roast was nice but not the best, very thin gravy, just boiled veggie and the roasties tasted a bit stale. The beef and yorkshires were lovely however. The starters and dessert were nice (although we had to wait nearly 40 minutes for the dessert). Not sure I’ll be back for a roast anytime soon but I’d love to try dinner one evening!"

"Having previously enjoyed 2 family meals at the Fox and Grapes earlier this year I hate to leave a negative review. However, on this visit the food was the worst I have been served in a very long time. My son booked a table at the Fox and Grapes over the phone, when we arrived there was no record of our booking, however we were shown to a table. The table was located by a window which was rusty and there was water all over the window sill. It felt cold and damp. It was at least 30 minutes, and after a reminder, that someone came to take our drinks order. We knew that there was a large party in the pub and so accepted this delay. Having waited so long we placed our food order at the same time. I ordered fish and chips having seen another guest eating what looked like a nice meal. When mine eventually arrived it was cooked to a crisp the batter was chewy and the fish tough. Two of our party ordered the Steak and Landlord Pie, this proved to be a small portion of pie with uncooked pastry and only 3 small pieces of meat. My grandson ordered a chicken burger again this was overcooked and he could only eat the edges as the middle was tough. Lastly my husband had the beefburger which he described as gritty! The service, which had previously been a highlight of our visits, was also poor. When paying the £95 bill I did highlight that I was not happy with the standards. The very nice lady behind the bar apologised but no discount was offered, not that it would have helped as the food was so bad, I very much doubt we will return. The next day we had excellent food and service at the the Hawarden Farm Shop."

"The food was tasty but there were not a lot of choices for the buffet advertised as Indian, Chinese and Thai. Some things were not labelled. We went up for food on one occasion to get some chicken tikka massala and there was no chicken in it, just the sauce, so I had to get some fried chicken to go with the sauce. It was delicious though, Also they didn't have any naan breads with the buffet. I can't comment personally on the chinese food as i didn't have any however my partner wasn't impressed with the chinese food. When first entering, it seemed quite cold as if they didn't want to put the heating on, however, after having some curry in my belly I was glad of the now perfect temperature. The service was good and the staff were friendly. Not bad for the price, two of us had the buffet with drinks for a little over thirty pound. They also do an all you can drink buffet where drinks are included with the cost of the buffet. Sounds great if having a night out in Chester, just down the road."
