"Outstanding dinner service. I recently had such a good lunch at Viva Mexico that I took a big party of customers (i'm sales rep) out for dinner at Viva Mexico (in the middle of the Edinburgh Festival August 2010) as I wanted somewhere I knew could provide good value food and service and something a little different on the menu. Despite it being their busiest couple of weeks in the year their service was excellent and the food was exactly as good as it always is. Many of my customers commented that they had a really good time and enjoyed the food immensly. I went back there again with some friends for a birthday party (they had arranged it this time as it was a favourite place for them they knew it was a perfect place for a party, yet with the personal service and intimacy you only achieve in better establishments). I had the stuffed chillies followed by Mole chicken (chilli chocolate sauce) much, much tastier than it sounds! I had read about Margharita madness and have to say after having two parties at the restaurant lately their margaritas rock!! Very good and not too sore a head due I guess to the good quality tequila! The coffee was great too this place does great coffee!!! I heartily recommend this place right down to its authentic decor adding to the ambiance. A fun place for parties or a more quiet and intimate affair upstair or in the front room can be achieved thanks to their clever use of space. 5 review and I will most certainly be visiting again! Had great meal here. We both big fans of mexicsn food and have eaten in many Mexican restaurants. This is one of the best. Great food, service, wine and atmosphere. Will be back.

I dined at this restaurant for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. The food was delicious, expertly cooked, and beautifully presented. The portion sizes were generous and the service was friendly. Thank you.

We enjoyed a lovely evening at Viva Mexico- out third visit and it didn't disappoint. We enjoyed a starter each followed by a main course and a decent bottle of wine. Prices are reasonable and the food is tasty. Our only regret was not sampling the margaritas... so that is a good enough reason to go the next time we are in Edinburgh!

I and my friend found this place during the walk around edinburgh and booked a table on the line after reading the reviews. amazing atmosphere, great service and wonderful eating! we will definitely return! we had flourquesidillas with huh and ripen in a beautiful sauce, followed by amazing ribeye steaks that she could cut with a butter knife!

this is really a great place where we tried Mexican food. we only ordered the main course and the amount was perfect for one person. I ordered herbal burrito, which came filled with kidney bean paste with cheese and rice. the Burrito roll was filled with smoked vegetables, garnished with acidic cream. Overall, eating was good, but little bland so they need to ask them to make it more spicy for them.
