"I had heard mixed reviews about this restaurant but decided to give it a try today with a group of seven of us. We were seated in a corner away from the busy areas. However, by 12:45, the soup we ordered was still not ready. When the server asked if everything was okay, I mentioned that my steak was very chewy. Unfortunately, the server ignored me and moved on to the others. Another server came by and asked if everything was alright, so I pointed out the issue with my steak. She offered to replace it with a different dish, but I declined as the rest of my group had almost finished their meals."

Beautiful dinner at The Olde Boote. Starter, 2 mains and wine. Lovely staff. Delicious meal. Definitely worth a visit.

Waited over an hour for our order, and sadly it wasn't worth the wait. So don't be in a hurry if you decide to dine here for mediocre pub food. Ver carta

My partner and I stayed at this place for 2 nights and had a great time. It's a perfect place to use as a starting point to discover the surrounding area. Whittington Castle is just a short walk away and has a fantastic little cafe.

Passing through Whittington on our way somewhere else, decided to stop for a late lunch. I had beer battered fish finger sandwich, my other half had Ye Old Boote take on a club sandwich, served hot. Great grub and lovely pub with views of the castle

What an amazing place to spend an evening. The food was delicious and the hosts bent over backwards to make our birthday celebration special. We had curry, steak, lasagne and pork and all were fabulous and very hot. Parking is plentiful and access is great with ramps. We will definitely be going back. X Ver carta

Recently refurbished, this was a very welcoming pub in a lovely location, opposite from Whittington Castle. Prices were very reasonable. Staff were lovely and very helpful. It 's billed as 'dog friendly ', which it isnt; its dog worshipping! Our elderly German Shepherd was spoiled absolutely rotten, by virtually every staff member! Menu covers all the basics, with a couple of slightly different dishes included; not a gastropub by any means, but good solid food. Most nights menus have freebies and offers available. Will definitely be returning. With dog

The service, atmosphere, and entertainment at the restaurant were all great. Unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. The crispy belly pork was not crispy at all, the fish and chips had more batter than fish, and the peas were hard as nails. The lasagna was dry and unappetizing. Despite receiving a refund for the lasagna, I was overall disappointed with the food. I am not sure if I would return to this restaurant in the future. It is important to note that this is just my personal experience. Overall, it was a really disappointing dining experience.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
