"The Zollenspieker is located in a 750 years old ferry building at the banks of river Elbe at the southern city limits of Hamburg. It is a popular wedding venue and recently was extended with a hotel and more modern lounge and bar.The historic dining room comes with floor to ceiling windows that open views over the river. Outside the building is framed by a large beer garden and patio where guests love to enjoy homemade pies and cakes during the afternoon. The restaurant itself is higher end and focuses on a regional cuisine with seasonal ingredients. During our visit they offered white asparagus and matjes (slated hering) dishes besides typical meat, poultry and vegetarian entrees. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance since the Zollenspieker is a popular one-day get away. Moreover it doesn’t hurt to double check if there is a wedding the day of your visit if you prefer an undisturbed dining experience. For a very intimate dinner the restaurant offers a small wooden hut (a former stream gauge) that offers space for 2 people only and is located off the property in a stilt hut above the river. They advertise their “Pegelhaus” as tiniest restaurant in the world.+ nice location along river Elbe, + delicious German fare, - only accessible by car, ferry or a long bus ride from Hamburg’s city centerAverage entrée: EUR 15-25.Credit cards accepted."

We were on a business trip and asked for a good fish restaurant. It is a bit far from city center but worth the taxi fare

Ein super schönes Restaurant mit schöner Aussicht auf die Elbe, leider sehr wenige vegane Gerichte zur Auswahl, als Vegetarier wird man eher fündig.

We had a management meeting at this very modern hotel. It is located directly at the Elbe river and the rooms have a very nice view. I recommend staying here and will come back

We enjoyed superb sunny spring weather which coincided with Asparagus season. The combination of white asparagus and schnitzel along with a Weissebier on the terrace...pure bliss. Ver carta

if you are looking for a relaxing and inspiring place close to Hamburg...this is the one...the new building successfully combines with a clever design modern atmosphere with this historical and beautiful place at the river Elbe...you can cross the river, have a nice walk alongside the Elbe or simply enjoy the atmosphere inside or outside...

We met with friends at Zollenspiker Fährhaus and were pleasantly surprised by such a lovely location in the the southern outskirts of Hamburg, mixing both traditional and modern touches. The menu is compact which is always a good sign for fresh ingredients. And fresh they were. The soup, the salad and the fish was fresh, innovative and delicious. It is anbit out of the way but well worth the trip! Ver carta

We have been at this higly recommended restaurant to celebrate the birthday of my sister. We ordered carrot-ginger soup as a starter. Nice, but boring in taste, but what was more: The soup was covered with a whole slice of bacon. How to eat with only a spoon??? The salad we had aferwards was grinding between our teeth of all the sand that was in there. We mentioned that to the waiter, who only shrugged her shoulders and replyed, that she herself tried to criticize the kitchen several times but it did not help... Help!

Very German! Not bad to say. Recently ate dinner there and found it not so fine as its once a month Sunday buffet which is quite fine. The evening menu is full of fish. Not surprising. The Sunday buffet offers a great variety of starters, entrees, and many kinds of dessert. It is truly "all you can eat." If you are a non-speaker of German, you might possibly have trouble. If you can read enough German then the menu would be okay. RESERVATIONS for the Sunday buffet are definitely a MUST. Evening are advised. The complex is historically very old and we find it quite interesting.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
