"Situated in the centre of a picture post card village, owners of Zum Goldenen Engel have spent the past 500 years polishing their craft and they 've not wasted their time! It 's everything you 'd want a Schwarzwald hotel to be architecturally timeless; staff in local costume providing...professional service; interiors rooms taken from every fairy story book you 've ever read; and located in some of Europe 's most beautiful countryside. We have stayed here on a number of occasions and have enjoyed splendid rooms, each with a small balcony overlooking the village, and furnished to a very high modern standard. In the evening, the dining room is a centre for local people which gives it the jovial atmosphere of a medieval tavern. Most of the staff speak little or no English but one or two speak very fluently so translation is never a problem. Do yourselves a massive favour and have dinner at the hotel. We 've always found German food a little bit beer sausage but the Goldenen Engel was a revaluation to us! Cuisine of a high order at realistic prices that will have you trying some very good food there again and again! A great experience that we shall repeat again next year I would encourage you to do the same."

We had a nice traditional dinner in this restaurant. Dishes were mainly traditional German (black forest), although admittedly a bit heavy, service was good and fast.

Nous avons diné dans cet excellent restaurant qui offre un cadre typique et chaleureux. Le personnel est très professionnel et charmant, le service rapide malgré le nombre de tables occupées, des plats succulents. Bien qu'onéreux, nous le recommandons vivement.

we were in good hotel and ate in restaurant for 2 nights. eating is local, seasonal and tasty. if I have a problem, it's the big size of the parts. others could contradict each other. the service is good and friendly and we could. eat on the balcony as it was warm. the wee are local and good.

We stayed here for 2 nights while on our way home and did not regret it. Located in a very small village next to the church is this hotel and restaurant completely in the Black Forest style. Food is of very high standard and rooms...are spacious and clean. A great location to visit other cities nearby.

This restaurant is phenomenal. They are willing to help if you have any special requests for off the menu foods. Every time I have eaten here I was amazed at how wonderful the preparation of the food was done. Not many restaurants in Germany compare...well to this place. The service is so far above par Compared to ninety-five percent of the restaurants I have eaten at in Germany. The staff is extremely friendly and are quick to smile. I have not had any issues with the service or food. Michelin on a scale I would give this place a 2.5 stars out of 3 stars!

The restaurant is located inside a hotel and the decor couldn't be more typical. The Host and all the waiters were quite friendly and all of them were wearing a typical dress of the region, very cool. The menu is not so large, but they...have some special menus of the week, which I highly recommend, I, for example, ordered a pasta with a special mushroom from the Black Forest, delicious, but I considered the prices a bit expensive considering the small city it is located. The service, though, was a bit slow. We have ordered the desserts and they took so long time to arrived.
