We wandered into this cosy looking bar/restaurant and ended up staying for food. It is located in a lovely old building in Prenzlauer Berg and had a friendly atmosphere. We sampled the schnitzel and pike perch washed down with a local beer. Nice food and...good value for money.

We discovered this place on our first day in Berlin, and never had dinner anywhere else (apart from at the end when it had to close at 6pm because of Covid). The menu offers a great choice (even with vegetarian options) and they serve great...draught beer. Very friendly and accommodating staff at all times. Great atmosphere, too.

title says everything. has been feeling a bar for many years, now a restaurant, but with very neighboring bar. the front rooms are bar and 3 tables, the back room is darker, more real it area with a beautiful bistro feeling. perhaps 8 tables. not. sure that it deserves a recommendation, but if they are in the region prenzlauer, they try it.

a German friend invited me to dinner in a schusterjungen and said it was one of the best places in berlin for truly authentic German cuisine. he was right! the food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the environment was welcoming. there are both inside and outside seats, and according to the number of guests, it is clear that this is a favorit with tourist and local alike.

High quality food. It is the best Weiner schnitzel I have ever tasted. I can Really recccomed this place. Although my girlfriend and I share a table with some other people I was still good experience. Therr was a loud and lovely atmosphere which made...it a good experience because you couldn't hear others people conversation. Also the service was really good. I can really recommend this place and I will definitely come again.

We wanted a typically German dinner and boy we got one! Lovely waitress sat us with another 3 people who were very friendly. She recommended we had beef goulash with red cabbage, pork knuckle with white bean puree, sauerkraut and boiled potatoes, hubby had pork...steak au four (with cheese on top), closed off by apple struddle and vanilla cream. To say the food was outstanding is the understatement of the year. Great atmosphere, place packed with locals so we knew we were onto a good one!

My wife and I made the great choice of an evening meal here on the last night of our Berlin break . Conveniently situated just by the underground station , we timed it well to get a table without a reservation . Efficient friendly service...in a cosy authentic setting which looks better on the inside than outside . Excellent goulash and liver dishes washed down with tasty black beer . Very reasonable final bill We are sure to return when revisiting this great city and its welcoming locals.

the place to go to berlin for authentic German food! I wanted to visit this restaurant after it was in an episode of anthony bourdain: parts unknown. forward called to secure a booking and the personal was very helpful and accommodating. large service of all and. our waiter was incredibly helpful to advise us on our order based on the generous portion sizes! we ordered 3 nets as we wanted to try out numerous items on the menu, and that was all we hoped. authentic German food in an authentic German restaurant. filled with locals and it was easy to see why

Last May, we stayed in an apartment right around the corner, using Home Exchange. Three days in the beginning of May, and four days at the end of the month. We had dinner at Zum Schusterjungen (the Shoemaker's Apprentice) four times, and yearn to return!...The food? Excellent, and promptly served by extremely friendly, welcoming hosts. On our return to Berlin, the LOT airplane was delayed, and we couldn't meet to get the keys in time--so we asked (on the phone from Warsaw) the housekeeper to have Zum Schusterjungen hold them for us--which they did, no problem. A fabulous restaurant with an international reputation--but a neighborhood eatery at the same time!
