"I'll start by letting you know that no one at this restaurant will admit to speaking English, their is no English menu, and it really has the feel of a restaurant that's been there for 50 years and little has changed, perhaps exempting 2 or 3 of the patrons. That's great, because that was just the experience I wanted to have. It's interesting always being around college educated Germans, they all speak English quite well, and you never get to practice your German. But when you find a good working class restaurant, you get both authentic food and the chance to say things absolutely incorrectly to the amusement of the locals.Having said all that, the food was excellent. The prices are remarkably reasonable for Germany. And the house beer outstanding. I had the schnitzle Katje, which is a very good (and large) pork filet covered in a tasty mushroom cream sauce (and tater tots, but you can't have everything). It comes with the obligatory German salad, but Katje's did this quite well, with a nice home made dressing. I also had the Goulash Soup, and that was a special delight on a cold winter day.Katje's is completely special because it is "nothing special". That is, they don't "try" to be "authentic", they simply are. The people there don't look for the "real" German experience. They simply were real Germans enjoying a night at a local, comfortable, home-cooking restaurant. And just like we would look for meatloaf or fried chicken as comfort food, everything on their menu screams German comfort food. (Do you like pork?)Be warned. they don't take credit cards, but there is a cash machine just down the block. Parking is easy. If you're having a flight from the airport the next day, you can do far worse than showing up at this great local place (about 10 miles from FRA) to enjoy a comfortable night with the locals and one or two takes at their very good brew."

Wir besuchen die Katja schon seit Jahren. Gutes Essen, freundliche Bedienung, Frankfurter Bier, besonders leckere Pfefferrahmsoße.

Sehr urig. Eine richtige gemütliche Gaststätte, wie es früher war. Es gibt im Sommer auch einen Biergarten. Bedienung ist schnell und nett.

Ein typisch hessisches Lokal, immer voll und immer gutes Essen. Schade, dass am Wochenende geschlossen ist. Der Service ist klasse, der Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Wer also gerne typisch deutsch isst, ist hier richtig aufgehoben.

Gefunden, weil wir W-LAN suchten. Das war schon gut. Die Karte enthält die typisch deutsche Schlachtplatte und auch die dazu gehörigen Kraut Arten. Wer also in deftigem Schwelgen möchte, bitte, hier werden Wünsche war!Ich fand es sehr schmackhaft. Die Einrichtung ist passend rustikal.Die Bedienung passt auch, schließlich sind wir nicht für übergroße Freundlichkeit bekannt ;-).

Nein, ich kann hier nun wirklich nichts Schlechtes sagen. Die Katja ist eine Dorfkneipe, wie man sie sich vorstellt: Kaum kommst du die Tür rein, stehst du vor der Theke, daneben steht ein kleiner Kühlschrank mit Dosenwurst aus eigener Schlachtung (im Übrigen auch sehr zu empfehlen). Das Personal ist immer freundlich und das Essen kommt sehr schnell - Wartezeit unter 15 Minuten mit Vorspeisensalat. Dieser hat sich zwar die letzten Jahre kaum verändert - aber er schmeckt! Gurken, Bohnen, Weißkraut, grüner Salat - die Mischung macht's! Und die Schnitzel in verschiedenen Variationen sind auch sehr zu empfehlen. Einzig und allein die Lautstärke ist bei voll besuchtem Lokal doch eher störend, jed...
