"We are fairly frequent visitors to Basel in order to visit our daughter, who has lived and worked in this lovely city for about 6 years. After a long delay due to COVID, we have returned this week to celebrate her 30th birthday. We always...stay at the Les Troia Rois, which is always top flight, and is again. We also always have at least one dinner meal each visit at Cheval Blanc and the magic of Peter Knogl. We had a magnificent dinner for four last night, topped by the saddle of venison (mousse line of celery and sauce rouennaise), sea bass with chorizo and cucumber, and lagoustine and in a light curry and green apple sauce with paired wines. It was a fabulous celebration of our daughter’s birthday and Peter Knogl’s “greatest joy [in] pampering our guests with a cuisine full of color, shape and sunshine.” Such an incredible four hour extravaganza is not cheap, but one doesn’t often find restaurants with 3 Michelin stars and 19 GaultMillau points that are not worth the cost. Cheval Blanc is a relatively small restaurant but gorgeous in decor and a priceless Rhine River view. The service is spectacular, good humored, but serious in its quest for excellence and guest comfort and information. A special ending is a humidor of choice, and immensely fine Swiss chocolates."

"Cheval Blanc is the ultimate classic French fine dining experience in Switzerland. We came here to celebrate my birthday while in Switzerland looking for a 3 Michelin stars experience. Located in the historical Grand Hotel Les Trois Rios. The riverside setting is charming and romantic. You start by a welcome drink at the terrace looking at the Rhine greeted by suited , polite and professional staff. The head chef Peter Knogl came to say hi before we moved to the main dining room and service started. The decor and interior is classy retro French with high ceilings, arches, classic chandeliers, large windows and round tables with candles. Ambience is warm and intimate. Service was top notch and impeccable. Staff were all knowledgeable with refreshing attention to details. Cuisine was modern french with Mediterranean influences, flavors were complex and dynamic. Ingredients were chosen carefully and courses were presented beautifully. I liked all of my courses, highlights of the menu were the Sardine Macaron, Langoustine curry, Red Mullet filet and the French saddle of lamb with mediterranean flavors. Wine pairing was excellent and enhanced every course taste and flavor. Sommelier was very professional and knowledgeable yet intimidating a bit. The French Cheese selections from Maître Antony in Ferrette was aromatic, rich and satisfying, Maître Antony is one of the best in the world that many Michelin starred Chefs get their fine cheeses selection from. The night ended well with a couple of delightful desserts courses, few delectable bites and some velvety chocolate. Overall, we had an elevated fine dining experience that will bring me back if in Basel again."

"I went to this restaurant like I go to a museum with the interest of discovering a foreign world. It's the world of my childhood which I'm glad burned. The large room is paneled with dark wood, there are geraniums on the terrace, and Aromat and liquid seasoning (not Maggi) are on the table as always. The vegetable rösti was good, although the portion was far too small. Whether frozen vegetables really have to be used in such museum style restaurants probably so. It doesn't matter, the hash browns and vegetables were tasty. The open beer was fresh and also tasted very good. A real ray of hope in this post war wasteland was the waiter, who although he spoke perfect Basel German and had a typically Swiss friendliness was recognizable as a secondo. The price was lower midrange and okay for once. The toilets worked."

"Ordered via Uber, delivery would have been between 5.55pm and 6.15pm, I called the restaurant at 6.30pm. They informed me that uber would be responsible for the delivery. At 6:40 p.m. I contacted uber, who in turn contacted the restaurant with feedback that the delivery had been canceled. Horrible service! Never again!"

"They accepted the dog but wouldn't bring her water+shouted at me for giving her a snack.Disgraceful! Completely unprofessional and rude behavior. The manager was shouting at me in front of other customers because I gave my dog a snack with my hands. Then I asked politely for a take out bowl to feed my dog outside but the manager refused so and continued to shout at me that it is not polite for the other customers to give food to the dog in the restaurant. I told her very calmly that there is no reason for her to be so rude and aggressive since I complied with her request. Unreasonable and rude. I always ask if dogs are allowed and other restaurants bring water straight away. Nowhere else I have been told that dogs are not allowed to eat. It was super uncomfortable to be shouted at like that."

"We are passing through Basel and stopped to see the city. As its lunch time so looking for an eatery at the heart of the Altstadt and we see Anatolia restaurant. Decided to go in and what a pleasant surprise it was. Vuraal, the waiter was very helpful and we ended with a great meal. My lamb chops were cooked to perfection. Rarely tested such good grill teller. And the decor was very pleasant too. It's a must visited restaurant."

"Wir haben haben in der Engadinerstube während der Basel World zu Mittag gegessen. Man kann ja verstehen, dass während der Messe viel los ist, so auch in der Engadinerstube, aber so einen erbärmlichen Service haben wir noch nicht erlebt: 15 min gewartet bis wir endlich bestellen konnten, Kellner bringt 2 Gabeln aber nur 1 Messer, Tisch wurde nicht sauber gemacht, Kellner bringt unsere Getränke, nimmt eins wieder zurück (ohne nachzufragen) und kurz darauf wieder mit dem gleichen wiederzukommen (ach, war doch richtig). Anschliessend eine gefühlte Ewigkeit auf das Essen gewartet. Wir hatten zweimal Rösti bestellt welches auch ganz gut schneckte. Anschliessend haben wir um die Rechung gebeten, währenddem signalisiert der Kellner Gästen die bei der Tür auf ihren Tisch warteten, sie könnten kommen. Während wir dann unsere Rechnung bezahlten, haben sich die dann einfach zu uns gesetzt und der Kellner schon Däumchen drehte. Völlig unnötiger Stress!! Haben dann noch mitbekommen wie der Kellner der Gruppe neben uns die schon lang fertig gegessen hatten, gesagt hat: Sie müssen jetzt gehen!! Wir haben unseren Ohren nicht getraut. Man kann verstehen wenn viel los ist und man gestresst ist, eine gewisse Freundlichkeit und Anstand darf dennoch erwartet werden! Engadinerstube ihr habt treue Kunden verloren! NIE WIEDER! Wird schweizer Qualität nicht im geringsten gerecht..."

"I visited the restaurant on my lunch break. There was a great lunch offer for just under CHF 20. This included the selected main menu, which was no smaller than the standard menu on the menu, and an appetizer of your choice, which was, however, reduced in size, e.g. an spring roll or a small bowl of soup. But it was far enough and everything was very tasty and beautifully presented. I'll definitely come back."

Von 19h30 bis 21h30 veruscht das Restaurant telefonisch zu erreichen, ohne Erfolg. Die Pommes...wie soll ich die Pommes beschreiben, für einen Burger mit Pommes welches 29.90 bezahlt wird, erwarte ich selbstgemachte Pommes, und kein Tiefkühlprodukt, und zu lange fritiert waren. Es war das erste und das letzte mal. Und ja ich habe hier gelesen ihr liefert nicht, daher ist es nicht eure Schuld für das fehlende essen...Ich bestelle bei Euch das essen kommt von Euch, ihr seid verantwortlich das die Lieferanten alles Liefern. Packt es so ein, das einfaxch ist nichts zu vergessen."

That's not possible, make the customer wait first and then cancel after 45 minutes... edit @Owner: Thanks for your answer. The situation is somehow strange, other restaurants were able to continue delivering without any problems. Be that as it may; It would have been nice if you had still sought contact in this case and justified the cancellation as you have done here. "I was finally able to stay overnight at the Krafft which I've heard so much about! It was a wonderful experience all around, from the reception at the reception to the stylishly furnished room with the handwritten welcome card, the aperitif in the Consum Bar and the breakfast with the homemade Birchermüesli and the freshly cut fruit salad. What impressed me most was the cheerful and warm team; all the employees I interacted with were super motivated and friendly. I'm really looking forward to my next stay!"

"I didn't have the chance to try the food in Ristorante Coccodrillo, because the waiter was so inpolite that didn't even gave us a proper answer why he couldn't serve us. We were 6 people and decided to eat there since there was a blackboard saying that there was a Nachmittag Menu from 14.30 17.30. When we went there at 15.00 the waiter told us that they are closed for an hour. However there were people eating. I went back and I asked what time they will be open and he answered me again in a very inpolite way. I must have bothered him. I insisted and he answered me visibly annoyed that they will open at 16.30. Really bad service."

"As we came back from a weekend in Dolomites, not having a chance to eat italian pizza in Italy, we came to Dio Mio at colleague's recommendation. She is Italian and approves of the pizza and so do we. Neapolitan pizza in Basel? Yes, please! The cocktails were great also. I've read somewhere the pizzas are small (not true and that the waiting time is long (also not true, if anything, we got our pizzas too soon! . The staff are lovely, the ambiance inside pretty great too. Overall, simply excellent!"

We found you thanks to an app. As a vegan, it is still difficult for me to find a selection of good food in restaurants. That's why I can only celebrate this cuisine! From starter, main course to dessert it was just so delicious and really really good. The waiting time between courses was reasonable (all tables were occupied) and so we were able to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and have good conversations and had a wonderful evening.
