"Another lovely steak dinner at Steak&Stamp! We arrived on time parking IS a bit tricky to be honest but worth it! but we arrived on time regardless of parking difficulties but our table wasn’t quite ready so we were shown to their little pub, it didn’t look too promising as we walked in, but turned out wonderful! A table of older gentlemen playing guitars and singing Christmas carrols, with bell ringing and whistles it was fabulous totally loved it! We were called to eat after about ten minutes.. I would've happily stayed longer soaking up the happy atmosphere of the pub! Five of us were eating and so we were seated in one of the ”summer-houses” outside. Sounds like that could be a bit chilly in November but not at all, they are very cosy and were all plenty warm enough. As there were five of us, we ordered the steak banquet and an 8oz fillet steak for my youngest daughter just so we would have enough to feel like a proper banquet. Realistically we didn’t need the fillet steak meal as there was more than enough food to go round and we couldn’t finish it all despite our best efforts! It was all delicious. Steak was cooked to perfection, all the sides are hot and tasty! The staff are so, so lovely. They make you feel like nothing is too much trouble. Great guys! Last time we went there there was no Worcestershire Sauce which was disappointing but not unusual nowadays! We were going to bring a bottle with us but forgot but it was lovely to find they actually have a bottle there now! Steak is always better with Worcestershire sauce! I feel that they noted something they were asked for and didn’t have and so they made sure to have it for next time. We appreciated that. The meal was lovely. Top notch! We loved it and we are already booked in to go do it all again between Christmas and new year!! "Having read good reviews I decided to treat my friend to Sunday lunch at the West House. Entering the building it was drab and the windows cloudy. Confident the food would make up for the neglected interior we were sadly disappointed. We ordered garlic mushrooms...to start There could not have been more than one mushroom sliced in the dish where kitchen staff couldn’t be bothered to wipe the spills off the plate. Bread accompanied the mushrooms but is was stale and dry despite looking very appetising. The starters were sent back whereupon the waitress informed me ‘I’ve taken the mushrooms off your bill’ (how generous). The beef (that according to the menu comes with ROAST potatoes and HOMEMADE gravy arrived and it was immediately obvious the so called roast potatoes had merely been cooked in chip fat (I conjecture they were frozen). The gravy looked as though it came from a packet. Asking the waitress where the ROASTED potatoes were and whether the greasy offerings on our plates were them she confirmed with the ‘chef’ they had actually been ‘deep fried’. Inquiries about the gravy revealed the HOMEMADE gravy had ‘been made from powder’. The waitress asked ‘do you want a spoon? when she brought a dish of vegetables which would have been handy! By far the worst Sunday meal (in a shoddy pub) I have ever had the misfortune to have. We left our table and informed a seemingly shocked waitress at the bar we were leaving. I can only assume anyone who considers the shameful offerings in the West House to constitute nice/good quality food hasn’t ever tasted better. Shame on the ‘chef’ and the rubbish (probably all bought in and frozen) food he is serving up to paying customers."
