"We arrived as a group of 6 early to have a drink before our meal. The bar is small which we new as we have been here lots in the past, however the experience was not helped by 3 kids aged 5-6 in the corner, they where doing what kids do! so I have no complaint of them , its just not what i want when going out for an evening!! The staff are very pleasant, helpful and attentive when its not too busy but as the place filled up we found ourselves having to wait and catch their eye to order more drinks etc. There was about a 40 min wait for the food which generally i don't mind as I often think its going to be freshly cooked! 3 of us had the fish and chips which quite frankly was probably the poorest I have ever had in a dine in experience, the batter was soggy and dripping in oil, the chips where not home made and the liquidized peas tasteless, we all felt it was inedible! 2 had the chicken kiev and enjoyed it very much, 1 had the lamb special, 4 cubes of potato a few veg and a load of lamb bones with very little meat on them doesn't cut it im afraid. The staff where very apologetic and replaced the fish and chips, the other didnt want to make a fuss and just ordered a pudding to fill her up. They did give us our drinks free which was very kind of them and we did leave a tip for the effort of the young waiting staff. Just hope they can improve and it was just a bad night for them."

"We arrived for a family birthday and were seated and had a drinks order taken. Myself and another one of the party ordered a blackberry gin with lemonade, the waitress then came back to inform us that they had no blackberry gin left so offered us black cherry which we were happy to have, they were then brought to us for us to discover they had used tonic as the mixer instead of lemonade, annoying but not worth making a fuss. We then ordered food, with one of the party being vegan, she opted for the vegan nachos to start and the vegan Cajun burger. The waitress then came back to inform us that there was no vegan cheese so would she want it without which she accepted. Our starters came after a wait but were enjoyable, we then had our mains which were a completely different story. Our veggie Cajun burgers were black and burnt, had dry buns and had very hard chunks throughout inedible. There was also no vegan slaw as listed and the portion size of the chips was poor. We didn’t get a table check and had to grab the attention of a waiter to inform him that we weren’t able to eat them, he was polite and apologetic and took them back to the kitchen but we weren’t offered anything else to eat. Another member of the party had the breakfast burger with the most rubbery fried egg, definitely left and reheated. As he made it to the kitchen we overheard the waitresses asking him if we wanted desserts repeatedly, feeling very much like they wanted us gone ASAP as they were all focused on cleaning up instead of attending to tables. When they brought us the desert menu we all found something we’d like, but again no one checked on us for a good 15 20 minutes, by which point we just wanted to go. Strange considering how eager they sounded to get us out of the door. We asked for the bill, with the Cajun burgers thankfully taken off, but still an expensive meal considering the poor experience. Incredibly dissatisfied with both the food and the service and we will definitely not be returning."

"3rd December 2023 We were so disappointed with our meal and general experience at The Spread Eagle. We had booked this meal with friends that are family to us and had travelled from Essex to Corby for an early celebration Christmas meal together. We had booked on-line on 2nd November and specifically asked for wheelchair access. When we arrived this had not been taken into account by staff, the table should have been pre-arranged and set ready for us. The area of the restaurant we were in was cold which and not at all comfortable for us nor indeed for our most senior of our party a VIP lady of 92 years. Drinks were very slow in arriving one of which was forgotten, along with a requested extra wine glass. We were then welcomed with the knowledge that mac cheese was off the menu, along with steak and rice. Staple products on your menu which should be well stocked. We proceeded to order our starters, prawn cocktails but yet again was informed that they had no prawns!... and that these are not ordered in as no one usually asks for them. One would question why they are still on the menu. Music had been requested twice which took a long while to get sorted. We appeared to be “out on a limb” where we were forgotten, but we soon realised that there were not enough staff on to run the Sunday lunch service. We had a 12.30pm booking and actually received our meal at 2.00pm. Starters were a long while in being served and the main course even slower. “Pigs in Blankets” were offered as complimentary as we had an extensive waiting time. We were asked if we had everything that we needed and was ok and then left. When the table was being cleared after mains we were was asked if we were happy with our meals and we informed the waitress that we were not happy. The staff were hassled and stressed it was apparent that all was not well. I asked how many were in the kitchen and was told 1 person. I was astonished, this is definitely not acceptable. I am appalled that the management had not sorted this issue. If staff had not turned up for their shifts there should be a back up list to call upon other staff to come in to assist. Work as a team and sort your problems out, and if no one else was available there was no excuse for not calling us to re-arrange our booking. Both me and my husband complained to the waitress, (I hasten to add, none of this is her fault), and asked to speak with the manager but was told that best we complain on-line. We asked for a reduction on the bill but was told that the “Pigs in Blankets” were the complementary item. The staff need better direction and training in what hospitality means and most definitely more “hands to the pump”. I have worked in the hospitality industry and the way that this restaurant is being run is a disgrace, no stock, no ambience, no welcome, and no idea!! We were shocked that our long-awaited Christmas get together was ruined by this farce, do not blame the kitchen staff they are only coping with what little direction they are being given. Wake up before the real Christmas rush starts do not disappoint any other families."

"Today we visited the Olive restaurant in Corby and I must say, it may just be my new favorite restaurant. I made a booking through their website and was provided with a recommended departure time. Upon arrival, I gave my name and was given several seating options. I chose a table by the window. We started with a bottle of Ombrellino Pinot Grigio Rose from Italy, which was a refreshing wine with notes of cherry and forest fruit. It paired well with our meals. For my starter, I had the Moules Mariniere, a classic French dish of mussels in a white wine, garlic, and parsley sauce served with ciabatta. It was delicious, though I wish they had provided a bowl for the discarded shells. My partner had the Tapas Trio, which included honey chorizo, patatas bravas, and a spinach feta parcel with tzatziki. He enjoyed it, especially the fresh and well-seasoned tzatziki. For my main course, I chose the Surf and Surf, a dish of cod fillet topped with Moroccan spiced prawns, served with new potatoes and Mediterranean vegetables. It had a bit more spice than expected, but I still found it delicious. My partner had the Chicken Parmesan Pasta, which he thought was a great combination of flavors with well-seasoned chicken and balanced pasta. We were so impressed with the food and atmosphere that we decided to have dessert. We opted for the Orange and Amaretti Trifle, a layered dessert with biscotti, orange jelly, custard, and Chantilly cream. It was delicious and light, though we wished it was a bit bigger. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner experience at Olive and felt transported to Greece for a while. Service: Dine-in Meal Type: Dinner Price per person: £40-50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"The boss and the billpayer decided to avoid cooking and dine out here, mainly to avoid one of us having to choose who was cooking on a Saturday night. My rock, paper, scissors suggestion for who was to cook had been seriously badly recieved. How about a meal out? I offered quickly, whilst dodging the viscious punch to the chops. Initially I had thought the clenched fist was her Rock , which I 'd swiftly beaten with the flat hand of paper. But the paper became Normally we use the take away service and drive the 8 country miles home like Lewis Hamilton but with the added challenge of not spilling pad Thai up the footwell of the car. Winter months and road conditions twice leading me to have to rinse the mats and wring out the remainder of my tasty Pad Thai. Arriving at the location, and whilst dodging the Just Eat driver I was entertained by the glass floor and Koi carp. Clearly well fed, in the time I had before being seated, I hadn 't yet worked out by who, where or how. We were sat in the window and I looked aimlessly at the menu digesting none of what I read whilst doing my utmost to neck all the prawn crackers left as a starter. The waitress arrived, whilst the Boss was ready to order the show vegan wasn 't, but had eaten 95% of the prawn crackers leaving the Boss a token 1 whilst she waited for me to consider the menu. Pad Thai, Vegetable Singapore Curry, Prawn Szechuan, Vermeccelli spicy noodles ordered. All very tasty and mopped up nicely with the prawn cracker I 'd decided the Boss had now taken too long to claim. The curry was delicious with some fresh chillies adding great heat to the dish. One of the very same chillies bringing tears to my eyes and lodging in the back of my throat. No issue with the dish just my own chewing! Turns out that a hot chilli which is usually removed with a quick cough, is more challenging since covid 19. Trying not to covid cough in a restaurant it turns out is quite tricky when there is a hot chilli lodged in your tonsils. But a good meal all round, well priced and entertaining people watching. Some of the stories I over heard making for excellent tales the following day. 4 stars. Great takeaway and very friendly lady waitress. If Just Eat delivered as far out as our place... it would be a more regular take away for us."
