Chose this restaurant on the spur of the moment and I was so glad we did. The exterior of the place is beautifully maintained, the inside is wonderfully designed and staff so welcoming. We had food from the main and lunch menu and it was flavoursome. Great service too...

Our friends booked this and were paying... otherwise my meal would have gone back! Dried chicken burger on a lifeless white bap with frozen chips and an undressed Salad,I have not had food this bad in a very long time.Waiting staff stood around chatting, had to ask and wait numerous times for drinks and condiments.My advice, avoid and spend your hard earned cash elsewhere.

Got there just before 7pm. Waiter took drinks order : i asked for lemon fanta and received orange fanta. My wife ordered rhubarb gin and it tasted like carbonated water (no gin and no rhubarb taste) I complained and received another and you could taste the gin but no rhubarb. I had a started that was mushrooms and onion thing that was not nice. I then had a chewy gristly sirloin steak , my wifes was ok.Dessert was nice. We went to the restaurant for their Wednesday night carvery. Thankfully we had made a reservation as all the tables were full by the time we left. The carvery offered a selection of pork, turkey, beef, and gammon. I decided to have a mix of pork and beef, and both meats were incredibly tender. The variety of vegetables included garlic new potatoes, roast potatoes, sweet potato mash, parsnips, carrots, cauliflower cheese, and cabbage. Overall, it was a delicious meal with great options to choose from.

Called in for lunch on Thursday. It was really busy so we were expecting slow service but it was quite the opposite. We were greeted promptly by the friendly staff and seated. Our drinks arrived within a few minutes and once we had ordered the food didn’t take too long at all. Very tasty. I was then very pleasantly surprised when we went to the bar to pay the bill and I saw the array of cakes and cookies for sale. I believe they are made by the owners daughter. I had a creme egg cookie and it was just delicious. Madmils bakehouse is the company. I’ll definitely be going back for more!

Wow what a mid week treat, the perfect carvery. Id heard it was good but haven’t been in here for over 10 years. We chose the Sondes as the mid point for a family meet/meal and it was an excellent choice. This is a busy pub serving fabulous food. The staff are clearly busy but all seemed happy to be there and they looked after us very well. The lady behind the bar tonight had great character and engaged well with all of her customers, the waitresses were keen and helpful. The lady serving the carvery was wonderful and the chef’s deserve a medal. Thank you to all at the sondes, its a 10/10 from us

Although the food was pleasant, it was nothing special. We decided to order the ribeye steak and vegetables, only to be informed that we had to pick up our vegetables from the carvery. Unfortunately, we were seated across from three families with very unruly and disrespectful children, making the noise level unbearable. We couldn't wait to finish our meal and leave. We had been looking forward to a nice and quiet anniversary dinner, but instead had to endure eating in the midst of chaos. It seemed like there may have been a shortage of staff as the service was quite poor. Despite having dined here many times before, this experience will definitely be our last. My friends and I visited last night for a catch up and meal. The meal was lovely but the service is awful. That was once we actually managed to park. There is an overflow car park which never seems to be open as people park in front of the entrance and it has never been surfaced properly. The girls that waitress are lovely girls but they have no idea how to attend to tables. I noticed they spend a lot of time chatting to each other. I had scampi and was asked if I’d like sauces. I asked for ketchup, salt and vinegar which was never arriving. We arrived for a family birthday and were seated and had a drinks order taken. Myself and another one of the party ordered a blackberry gin with lemonade, the waitress then came back to inform us that they had no blackberry gin left so offered us black cherry which we were happy to have, they were then brought to us for us to discover they had used tonic as the mixer instead of lemonade, annoying but not worth making a fuss.
