"Having failed to book at another local pub we used the quick and simple online booking system used by The Red Lion. We booked a table easily for a time that suited us. The outside of the pub may be a little uninspiring but once inside we were we were greeted with a warm welcome and a nicely decorated interior. Service was quick and efficient. The menu had a reasonable range of food and the specials board had some interesting options. Our three choices included scampi and chips, pork in apple cider with mash and hunters chicken. Followed by ice cream, lemon meringue pie and caramel apple pie. All the food was well prepared and tasty. We had a nice meal in pleasant surroundings and were glad that we had visited this friendly pub."

"We booked a table in the morning as previously we have been and not been able to get a table. We had a pushchair with us and wanted to make sure we had enough space and didn’t feel in the way. The staff were more than helpful with this and arranged a table perfect for us. The menu is so varied and you’d struggle to not find something on there you wanted. We had a full English, pork roast dinner and a pork roast dinner in a giant Yorkshire. The food was amazing, couldn’t fault it. As people have previously said on reviews the sausages weren’t great but I’m not a massive sausage fan anyway so didn’t really mind them all that much. It came out hot and presentable. Reasonably priced. The staff were lovely and made us feel incredibly welcome. I also had a chocolate milkshake and that was delicious. Can’t wait to return."

"I haven't visited this restaurant in years, but I recently had an incredible meal there. The food was freshly cooked with options for meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets. It was all delicious and the service was great. The restaurant is located in a beautiful old building. I highly recommend it and can't wait to go back."

"Ordered a family takeaway for 6, meal was delivered within 45 minutes which was fine. When it arrived we called them to say one meal was missing. They confirmed it had been ordered and paid for and said the forgotten meal would be with us shortly, an hour later no meal, another phone call, another apology saying it would be right with us, an hour later no meal, another phone call no meal. A third phone call an apology and a promise to deliver but still no meal. I can completely forgive mistakes but promising to send the missing food then receiving nothing when it has been paid for is unfair. It wasn't nice to have to chase a missing meal when all my mother wanted was to host my family. The final phone call 3 hours after the original meal, my mum asked for a refund for the missing meal. The lady on the phone said the delivery driver could not find the address, we explained again that they had already delivered to us this evening and taken our money so how could they not find the address, again we asked for a refund for the missing meal. She was extremely rude and hung up the phone so no meal or refund. My mother was very upset as she was hosting the evening and the woman was very rude to her. Appalled by the service and how they spoke to a 70 year old woman."

"A fantastic venue, with an excellent choice of menu items, all cooked to a high standard and full of flavour. We attended The Trooper, last night, for my father’s birthday. The venue is very well presented and immediately sets the right example of ambience for a social dining experience. We were shown to our table by Jaydon, who proceeded to take our drinks orders before returning to discuss food. Jaydon was extremely friendly, well presented and he knew the menu inside and out. Jaydon recommended the Crispy Beef Teriyaki starter for my father, which was out of this world. The sticky bbq pork belly and garlic creamed mushroom pot also went down well with the family. For mains, Jaydon had recommended the Wagyu fillet for my father, with sautéed greens, whilst myself and others chose the 8oz Fillet, the Mediterranean chicken skewer and the crispy chicken burger. The mains went down a treat and none of us were left disappointed. Portion sizes were excellent and the seasoning and taste of our chosen dish perfection. Once again, Jaydon checked on our table routinely, engaging in some back and forth humour with my father and learned that it was in fact his birthday. Before presenting us with our desserts, Jaydon arranged for a slate tile wishing my father a happy birthday. During this time the Venue Manager attended to check on how our experience had been, for which we were all full of praise not only for the cuisine, but for her staff. I would absolutely recommend you give the Trooper a go for your next outing. A fantastic experience that none of us will forget in a hurry."

"After driving past this restaurant on numerous occasions and seeing it was busy most of the time, me and my partner decided to give it a go wish we hadn't of bothered! Walked into restaurant an could see they were fairly busy but was quickly shown to a table might as well of been sitting on the persons lap next to us how close the tables are! Had a look through the menu, ordered drinks and decided on bbq ribs was then told that they didn't have any, which is fine, I understand restaurants run out of things. So reordered a cowboy burger, and my partner had a rare sirloin steak. 45 minutes later, with empty glasses on the table and no sign of our food we seemed to of been forgotten about, not one waitress asked if we would like another drink no one would make eye contact or apologise about the wait. Another long 20 minutes after that our food arrived to the table and i was shocked to see the order was wrong! Bbq sauce was on the burger yet on the menu it states it should come with burger sauce on the side, waitress asked if we would like any sauce my partner asked for mayonnaise. I explained to the waitress that my order was wrong and she grabbed the plate back and took it back to the kitchen. 10 minutes later my food came back to the table (may I add my partner was half way through his meal and was slammed down infront of me.. Without any sauce at all (and without an apology! Explained to her again that the meal should be provided with burger sauce and she just turned and walked away. By this time i was angry with how we had been treated, and the fact we waited 1 hour 5 minutes for wrong food and had not been given an apology was astonishing! She then returned 5 minutes later with burger sauce asked us again if we would like any other sauce... My other half had asked for mayonnaise but had now finished his meal but she still brought 5 pots over the table.. Confusing I know! My partner really enjoyed his steak, said it was cooked just to how he liked it which I was glad about, my burger was good also when it was all right! Overall I won't be returning to this pub, there are many restaurants of this chain (2 for 1 around, and would rather go that extra mile as I know we'll have great food AND great service such as the Sax and Penny in Lichfield, which is always 100%! The waitress at The Crown looked as though she couldn't be bothered to be there, and made very little effort with us."

"Poor food. 2 x kids burgers with stale/dry/hard bread. Burgers were as thin as thin can be and burnt/dry. Chips (all meals) were lukewarm at best. Really disappointing having had a good Sunday lunch there in the past. Beef sandwich was good and the fish finger sandwich was good but overall, disappointing. Told the waitress who did offer to redo them but our party were that hungry they’d tolerated it and half eaten them (not that they were that big to begin with). Chef was informed by colleague so I guess that is that then."

"very quiet for a restaurant on a Saturday night, we should have seen this as a warning sign the dinge started to go bad when the first drinks arrived at our table. I had a whole prise peroni that was knocked over by the waitress. she went and took some tissue I thought was for me, but she used it to wipe the table while giggling about the chaos I was in. I had to ask for more tissue to dry me off. I asked if we could have these round drinks free and she said yes. no attempt was made to delete the floor that was a pool of beer and an accident that waited to pass we ordered chicken breast that looked more than it was taken by a budgie it was so small...more"

"Visited today for afternoon tea, the food on this was mostly great, with the exception of the chocolate brownie that was a little dry, however the service was not great. The waiters were a little rude at times and simple requests seemed too much, when served tea we had to ask multiple times if we could get milk, also had to ask multiple times for sugar, which we would have happily got for ourselves if they were out for us to get, for 5 people we were given a single sachet of sugar. The aircon was also set at a very cold setting and this unfortunately meant my group were very cold and couldn't fully enjoy our afternoon tea. "I cannot speak for the whole party of seven. The staff were great friendly and efficient. We were particularly grateful when they turned off the music! Atmosphere was a bit lacking as this was Tuesday lunchtime very different to the Sarurday buzz of my first visit. My fish gujons were disappointing: more batter than fish. And my wife 's roasted halloumi lacked halloumi, tiny flakes of which finally came in a small bowl when she complained. Overall impression: I think a beer drinker would enjoy the place more than I did. Unfortunately, I gave up alcohol recently (doctor 's advice). Thanks anyway. We had a good family chat in a quiet environment."

"we went to the holly bush today for Sunday dinner. first, I thank them so much for the team that has arranged for the exit seats and a chair with poor for my brother in law that has great backward problems. our waitress was so friendly. only a joy to have someone so friendly and knowledgeable to serve them. great menu. from mosquitoes, Korean chicken and garlic mushroom beginners to the torte and excellent roasts were all our main dishes very good. it is a shame that there were no crumbs as one of my favorites, but the mocha dessert and the Eaton fair were great, like my sorbet and eis. overall a great Sunday lunch in a place where we are again and again."

"Booked a table for 4 at the Lee garden Chinese restaurant in Lichfield , it was my partner 40th Birthday, The restaurant got us in on the day which was nice. so it was supposed to be something special, for a special occasion. Got into the restaurant and the waitress came over and gave us some prawn crackers, then took our order for drinks so far so good. The drinks came over, then the waiter took our food order. We ordered Two hot and sour soups, sweet and sour Cantonese chicken, Noodles, Sizzling lamb Cantonese style, special curry, Vegetable curry, egg fried rice x 2, chips and spring roles. The food took over a hour to come out which wasn’t great. when it arrived the hot and sour soups were Luke warm and looked like they had been in and out of a microwave. The lamb Cantonese style tasted like cheap meat it wasn’t lamb, my mate said he wasn’t sure what it was, It was dreadful. Both rice dishes were Luke warm and the noodles were cold. To cut a long story short apart from the chips which were Fantastic, the rest of the food was a microwave job.. Plus the special curry hardly had any meat in it!! For £13 plus a main meal I find this an absolute disgrace!! They took the rices, noodles and soups off the bill, which still came to nearly £80… It was a rip off, we paid £80 for food heated up in a microwave.. Please avoid, I felt sick after this meal and I shall personally not ever return to this place. Michael Wan's Mandarin in Blackpool Is a premier league Chinese, the food fabulous! This establishment however is far from that ,it’s utter garbage.. The staff were nice People, It’s not their fault , but the food like I said was a 0/10!"

"I ordered a Biryani via the Just Eat app, in the “comments” section I requested a madras sauce. When the meal arrived it came with a creamy lentil sauce. I called Paprika to query the order and was rudely told they don’t read comments I should have telephoned the request through. I’m just glad I didn’t comment on an allergy ! I raised a case with Just Eat who said they can’t ask vendors to read comments suggested I should have telephoned it through. That ivsuggests renders the App pointless, I may as well just telephoned the vendor in future. Paprika’s response was rude obstructive, I will not use them again. I binned the meal."

"Visited the eastern Eye on recommendation of our son. Abdul ,the owner,made us most welcome , prepared a goat curry at our request. which was not on the menu, absolutely superb ,Our party of had a most enjoyable selection of curries which in my opinion was as good as , if not better, than most in the Balti triangle, Birmingham.As visitors from Scotland we were made most welcome, with superb food, attentive staff,and personal attention from Abdul the owner,i have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant for a fine dining experience"

"great pub relaxed atmosphere and great owners. I'm a fussy fit, I'll be the first to admit it, but this place has touched all the boxes, on the way back from lichfield we got hungry and thought we would try shenston. there are only pubs. we, in the garage, called the plow. but the parking lot was rammed and thanked. we went in the railway and it was great, clean, friendly and very welcoming, I ordered the pork bell, and my wife the pieces of the gammon. it was beautifully cooked and she was very happy. mine was also great, cocky, scabby and exalted. I will definitely go back as I've never been before, but after talking to the workers and peculiarities I felt like a more regular, we'll be done, keep it up. can't wait to dive back. a well deserved I actually want to go to a bad place, I give out and I would prefer to give one so that I can tear a bit into it. Oh, good. I will say it again, superb!."

"Not been to The Bowling Green for a while and we were in Lichfield so thought we would pop in for Sunday lunch. We had a turkey and beef sunday dinner. As soon as my husband came from the bar ordering the food arrived like within 5 mins. The food came on a cold plate I touched the vegetables and they were not even warm. I asked for it to be taken back. It came back out .the veg was warm ish. But the plate again stone cold. The parsnips were dried up the roast potatoes were frozen ones. The meat was so dry had to have a drink after each chew . I left some of the meal. Honest I never moan about my food but this was awful. Give it a miss and save your money. One bonus the staff were nice and pleasant"

"The reason this isn't one star is Shona the waitress who deserves better than this graveyard of a restaurant. Food was absolutely the lowest quality stuff I've ever encountered. We ordered steaks that were fatty, tough and terribly cooked (not seasoned, cooked at too low a temperature) the ploughman's sharer is basically stuff from Tesco's warmed up and served with the cheapest sort of bread. We'd have brought it up but frankly it's clear your chef can't do better so what's the point. Oh, we ordered pulled pork that wasn't. I suspect it was leftovers. Not sure the chef knows what pulled pork is. Another thing while we're at it, the other guy who bought our wine didn't even bother to open it. The place had four tables on a Saturday night, and one of them was complaining about the food to the staff all night. Maybe the reason this is the emptiest restaurant in Lichfield is because it has an old fashioned menu and quality that would shame a Wetherspoons. Will never return ."

"The Redmore Inn has significantly improved over the last two years. Their food and service have always been great previously, but unfortunately, today, the food quality was very disappointing. I'm a big red meat eater and know and cook meat very well and must say the chef does not have a clue to properly cook a steak and the beef roast was inedible tough. But also the quality of meat being served was bad. We have looked forward to our an unnual family pre-Chritmas Fayre dinner but was unfortunately spoiled by the poor mains. The staters and deserts were good, and as always, the staff is friendly, helpful, and always smiling. But I can't recommend their festive menu as I just can not justify the cost against the poor quality mains we had tonight."
