"Our visit to the Blue Bell was probably the best evening out we 've had in a long time. Advertised as an old coaching inn we were pleasantly surprised by the very contemporary decor inside which gave it an up market feel. The 3 members of staff we encountered were all welcoming, engaged in conversation and seemed to value our custom. The menu was quite extensive and varied with some traditional pub items, plus some with more unusual twists. When our food arrived it was absolutely amazing and all 3 courses were delicious, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. All portions were sufficiently but sensibly sized and in addition our mains came with ample servings of fresh vegetables, making for a healthier meal. The timing of the 'gap ' between courses was good, we neither felt rushed, nor delayed. The added bonus to all this was the the prices which were quite reasonable for the standard of environs and food. I 'm posting this review on both Trip Advisor entries that seem to appear for the Blue Bell Inn, as I believe them to be one and the same place! I think the location given for one entry at Milfield is inaccurate, which confused us as visitors to the area. I also consider that some of the reviews listed may not pertain to the Blue Bell, so read other reviews carefully for example the reviewer who mentions walking from Wooler must have had a long walk!!!! (I 'm guessing their review refers to the Black Bull in Wooler. Many thanks to the Blue Bell chef, barman, waitress and manager for a perfect meal, and a brilliant end to a week in Northumbria."

"We love it here and come here often. My son loves the ice creams so much. The seating area for kids is lovely and separate from the rest of the seating, and it feels relaxed there. It can be very hot in the kids area on a hot day due to all the windows, but there’s lots of seating outside. The toys do often need updating/a clean but there’s a mix of bits there for the kids. More would definitely encourage more visitors though! The outdoor area has a slide and a swing and it’s beautiful. Lovely for the kids to see the animals and the view is stunning. The staff are always polite and helpful, we have visited countless times and I have never had anything but positive interactions with the staff. You can purchase drinks etc here to consume at canny crafty which is handy. They do serve sorbets but their menu in general is a bit limited for some dietary restrictions. We had some vegan friends who really struggled to choose a lunch that they would enjoy. We had paninis which were vegetarian which we enjoyed. I do wish they did a child’s portion of beans on toast, but we don’t really mind ordering the big one (it’s huge! . The milk isn’t pasterised but they do sign post this, so anyone with a weakened immune system/pregnant etc will be made aware. We love wheelbirks and think it’s a great, chilled day out. There’s some nice gifts in the shop too."
