"Really poor service today at the street bridge.... went out as a group for Father’s Day people) all ordered food and drinks..... the food was disgusting I wouldn’t feed it to my dog.... the stacker adults burger which included jalapeños some cheese (that looked...like rubber and was hard) and two patties of meat which didn’t taste like any meat was dry, I carnt Even find the right words to describe the taste of it, it comes to something when my two year old son wouldn’t even eat it). Even the bacon that came on the burger didn’t taste like bacon it was see through and greasy. When the male member of staff came over to move our plates, one of the burgers had been bitten into, we asked for a refund on the burger meals as we was not happy, he went over to a lady behind the bar to see if we could have a refund..... she then sent another member of staff over who was quiet rude to me and my friend and asked why Out the burgers hadn’t been touched. We tried to explain that we had tasted the one burger... and was all totally put off by the taste. No doubt it my mind you could get a better burger cooked by my year old child with a burger from the local cornet shop freezer. The young man was rude and abrupt “I’m not being funny or anything “.... was his words and then to come up with a silly excuse of two of the burgers hadn’t been touched.... believe me one taste of a burger was enough to put anyone off... but to stand there and try and tell us we are wrong is bad customer service. So did we have to bite all the burgers to tell you they was disgusting. After a minuet discussion between the manager and the lad with the stinking attitude problem they decided not to refund out of meals.... bad customer service rude staff and certainly will never be returning to this pub for food. I will sure be telling friends and family about my experience.... the food was probably nicer when they had the or star food safety rating... Inhope people fine this useful and avoid this place by all cost!"

"We visited on 8/9/2023. We were pleased to get a table in the garden as it was very sunny. We went to order food and were told that there was a separate menu for diners eating outside. We wanted steak: ‘Sorry no steak for outside diners’. ‘Erm, OK, how about the Caesar salad?’ ‘Sorry, no salad for outside diners’. ‘I’ll have the burger with pulled pork and cheese please.’ ‘If you’re eating outside, the pulled pork and cheese are charged extra.’ I’m not even kidding. We eventually managed order food, although by this point I didn’t want to eat there because of the unexplained, baffling rules and the very young staff who could barely be bothered to talk. Once I’d paid £30.50 for scampi and chips and a burger I naturally asked for cutlery and the sever pointed to a rack containing wooden forks. I asked for steel cutlery and she told me OUTSIDE DINERS HAD TO USE WOODEN CUTLERY. I’m not even kidding. I insisted I wanted steel cutlery but instead of getting me some, she told me to ask the server who brought the food. Rather than argue with that server or wait an age for a knife and fork, I just took some from the nearest table in the dining room. Why aren’t staff allowed to do this? How can staff not have the initiative to just hand you cutlery? The scampi and chips were nice though I had to pay a few quid extra for non frozen chips but the burger was abysmal. It came overcooked and dry in a supermarket bun and with not a scrap of sauce, dressing or garnish. Just a dry burger in a bun with frozen chips. I used to like this place but we’re never going back, we agreed. Whoever is running this place is either trying to run it into the ground or is making so much money as to not care about how anyone feels. To have staff repeating ‘computer says no’ like a corporate mantra throughout your visit is not the guest experience any business owner should be aiming for. I hated my experience here; it was everything wrong with the UK food industry. Young, underpaid staff who couldn’t care less, arrogant business owners imposing mindless, inexplicable rules designed to say NO to people, absolutely no regard for food quality just low standards, frozen produce and a reliance on the British tendency to eat, go home and keep their mouths shut. If we all complained a little more maybe this would happen less. Having said that, it’s not the customers’ job to ensure the very basic elements of a decent dining experience. It’s really not that hard. If you care. These people don’t."

"Over the years we have been regulars here. The food is invariably good as is the vibe, but usually the service is slow, to the point of complaining. My wife and I went last night and the service was far slower than usual. After waiting 45 minutes for a pizza I asked the head waiter (who was just passing the table) how much longer we would have to wait. He was non committal, just saying that they were busy. He didn 't even go to check or apologise. After an hour I asked one of the young waitresses how long it would be. She went to check and a few minutes later brought out the pizzas, over an hour after ordering. She, at least, apologised for the wait, although couldn 't provide us with pizza cutters because 'they had all been washed up and the kitchen staff were cleaning up '. We were going to leave it at that but happened to pass the head waiter on the way out. He mumbled something about the wait so I told him that the service had been terrible. I was, again, going to leave it at that but rather than apologising about the service he again made excuses about being busy and attempted to justify the wait. The ironic thing is that if, when we ordered, we had been told about the wait we would have had a couple of extra drinks rather than just the bottle of wine we ordered ' with the meal ' (which had gone by the time the food arrived) so they would have taken more money. The main issue wasn 't the wait but the fact that at no point did anyone approach us to explain/ apologise. I suspect that the truth is that they are so busy anyway, they don 't feel the need to provide good customer service."

"I have visited this church linked café/restaurant many times in the past the most recent being today. I have always had a hot meal whether from the standard menu or the specials board all have been excellent value and very tasty. Today I had the home made steak and kidney pie with new potatoes, carrots and sweet corn and a pot of tea more of this later. The meal was served piping hot and was ample for a lunch I was satisfied but not over full at the end of my meal. Previously I have had a lamb hot pot again home made that appeared on the specials board it was full of lamb and not wishing to repeat myself very tasty. I have never tried the desserts as I find a cooked meal is ample for dinner time so lunch to those with breading. My only criticism is that the tea is too weak the pot is large enough for two tea bags or the quality of the teat needs reviewing. of course it could be partly my fault by putting to much full fat milk in the cup first, I am used to skimmed milk at home. The café is run as a charity organisation, I was introduced to it by a work colleague several years ago and visit when ever I am in Oldham. The serving staff appear to have a mixture of disabilities or learning difficulties but all do their job very well. The café is large, well used so much a so at the normal dinner time 12 to 1.00pm it can be difficult to find a free table. If you want a nice ordinary home cooked meal and are in Oldham seek out this cafe it is tucked away down a narrow cul de sac just off the town centre."

"Our second visit was even better than our first and that was great! My wife and I visited the Puckersley with friends who live close by. It was our second visit and we remembered that the food was good. A new menu had been introduced just that evening (Friday the 13th) and I noticed a selection of “Rice Bowls” from which I chose the King Prawn option. I can’t fully remember the menu description but it was something like “Salt and Pepper Spicy King Prawns Rice Bowl” MY GOODNESS! I have eaten in some fancy places and never have I been more surprised and delighted by a dish than I was that night. It was served beautifully, the prawns were lightly battered like Tempura prawns they were on a bed of egg fried rice surrounded by a lovely sauce containing goodness knows how many different chilli peppers and beautifully diced vegetables. It was even more enhanced by some greenery (sorry, i forgot what it was) which reminded me of a lightly fried rocket which just melted in your mouth. The dish is a TRIUMPH and must not be missed. I look forward to trying the other versions of this dish on our next visit and we will certainly visit again. Our friends ordered steaks which arrived cooked exactly as they requested which is unusual in itself but not, our friends say, at the Puckersley! My wife could only look enviously at my bowl but fortunately reported that her Scampi was excellent too. The waiting staff (All girls as it happened) were very happy, smiling and extremely efficient too. DO NOT MISS THIS PUB, IT IS A GEM."
