"My daughter asked to go out for breakfast to our local Weatherspoons. We chose a table near the window. The couple behind us asked if the air con could be turned down as they were cold. We placed our order on the app. Our drinks arrived and we heard the couple ask again about the air con, the gentleman said of course and turned it off. Whilst we waited for our food a young couple with a newborn baby came and sat down. They also commented on how cold it was. Our food arrived and looked great. My mixed grill had a broken yolk which had another egg put on top of it, not a problem if you like yolk but I don’t and it had run into my beans and other items on my plate so I had to scrape it off. That is my personal issue so I did not complain about it. The air con was still blowing out cold air to the extent I couldn’t eat it quick enough before it was going cold. I had at this point asked a member of staff to turn the air con off. I could not enjoy or eat my breakfast as it was far too cold. I had ordered a small portion of pancakes and thought I would eat them instead. I knew they would be cold but I would enjoy them anyway, but no the pancakes had been far too over heated they were like cardboard you could tap on them and couldn’t cut them. I explained the situation to the member of staff who said they would go and mention it to the kitchen. I waited 30 minutes and he never came back, no apology or anything. The customer service and food were shocking, he could of returned and said the kitchen apologises but nothing and how many times do you have to be asked to turn the air con off."

"As we had friends over visiting from the USA we decided to do something different as traditionally English, what better than a visit to the Walled Garden followed by a traditional afternoon tea. We arrived 10 minutes early for our tea and were sat in a lovely atmospheric area near to the library, however over half an hour passed by before we were seated and then another ten minutes before anyone attended to us. What followed was quite a pleasant experience with staff polite if a little slow in dealing and serving us. However we were not necessarily in a rush so we just enjoyed the overall experience. I decided to try the Gentlemen’s Selection but found it underwhelming in parts, the half pork pie was of average quality and appeared shop bought. The rare breed sausage roll was delightful as was the ham hock terrine and piccalilli a piece of toast would have been a nice addition to this element. The most disappointing element was the spice cake, it was dry and unpleasant, my tea guests had the traditional tea and were very pleased with their choice, no complaints at all. Loose leaf tea was something that we all said reminded us of our childhood which is a nice touch. We have decided to return and do it again sometime as it was as I said a very pleasant experience and the library where we sat was a great location. However I would skip the Gentlemen’s Selection and enjoy the Traditional option."
