"Great food as always, but… we came for a meal to celebrate a family birthday as we have done dozens of times over the years. This restaurant is a family favourite the food is absolutely amazing. However, last night at the point of paying the bill was split equally between 3 family members with each total being rounded up to a nice even number to add on the tip. The first 2 members paid exactly the same amount, but when it came to the 3rd member of the group who was sitting furthest away from the waiter taking the card payments, instead of charging the the same as he had done twice already, he added an extra £10 then held the terminal price towards himself so the last member had to just reach out make contact with the back of the machine to pay, without seeing the charge. It was only that a member of the group seated closer noticed at the last second that additional money had been added on as it was in very big, bright digits facing the waiter. The general feel at the time from all was that this did not feel like an accident. The last member of the group to pay was a more frail member of the party which we obviously feel was seen as an easier target for such a ‘mistake’. Only £10, but if you add this on a handful of times here there it certainly adds up. Also to add, Village Indiya is a restaurant with a really great reputation, we don’t think that this is something the restaurant would engage in, but clearly a ploy from an individual trying to make a few quid extra. We were left feeling disappointed. Keep an eye on your payments!"

"My partner and I were excited to revisit the restaurant after trying the menu last week and dining at the parkside brasserie many times. Unfortunately, we were disappointed when my Yorkshire pudding was served cold and the sirloin beef roast was mostly gristle and fat, with very little edible meat. I returned the dish to the waitress, who said she would speak to the chef, but nothing was done. Another waitress offered us dessert, assuming it was to compensate for the uneatable roast. When we asked for the bill, we were still required to pay for the entire meal, even though I had sent my main course back. When the waiter came to collect payment, I explained the situation, but he didn't offer much of a response. I have been a loyal customer of Jackson's restaurant for many years and have always been satisfied with the service and food quality. However, after trying the new owner's menu for a second time, we will not be returning. Thank you for your response. I find it hard to believe that you would remember an alleged argument between two customers from five months ago. As I mentioned to your waitress and in my original review, the beef served was mostly gristle and fat, making it inedible. Despite my hope that my feedback would be taken into consideration, it seems to have been ignored. I hope that your staff will take future feedback more seriously with other customers."

"My family and I have eaten here on several occasions and have been impressed every time. We ate there when it had first opened and could not have been happier with the overall experience. The food was incredible and the service was wonderful. We most...recently dined here on Valentines day. They were offering a course set menu starting with a Kir Royale on arrival. Unfortunately when my husband and I arrived we were greeted with Prosecco which was very nice but not what we were expecting. We did mention it to the waitress and it was rectified immediately and generously they left us with the Prosecco too. The waitress then took our order but told us that the soup that was on the menu was no longer being served, It had been changed. Fortunately neither of us had planned to have this. The waitress stated that there was no need to order our desserts until later. The Amuse-Bouche arrived which was lobster en croute and it was divine! The chicken liver pate was wonderful and the smoked duck and orange salad that my husband ordered was very moreish. This was followed by the first of two pallet cleansers. A mango sorbet which was to die for. Mango sorbet made with coconut milk and a beautifully sweet yet rich mango sauce. I followed that with a lobster cocktail and my husband had the Thai crab cakes. Unlike most fish/crab cakes that i have tried before these seemed to be filled mostly with crab and not potato which felt quite luxurious. They were so flavoursome! This was followed by the second sorbet of the evening which was lemon. Very tart and very tasty. My husband and I wanted to have the Chateaubriand for It was by far the best steak either of us had ever eaten and I have eaten a lot! They came over to take our dessert order. I asked for the Crème Brulee but they said they didn't have any. I was so so disappointed. The restaurant had released this menu approximately weeks before the evening so I had been looking forward to this for some time! My husbands sticky toffee pudding however.....went down a storm. We were also offered another glass of Prosecco each (on the house) which was a nice touch. The whole meal was topped off with coffee, petit four and a rose (which we had to remind them of). As we had to remind them they also offered my husband one too. They may have to be reminded of the odd thing and I appreciate they shouldn't have to be but they rectify every situation immediately and the customer service was faultless. Many people that I have spoken to claim that all of this for seems like a lot of money. I completely disagree! That is a great price for fine dining for that many courses! We live close enough to walk to it so no taxi required and we needed to buy no drinks at all. Definitely worth a try and its wonderful to have fine dining just up the road. There are a few things that could be addressed but definitely not the food. Try it!"
